Your favorite economic/tycoon games

What's your favorite economic/tycoon game.

Capitalism 2 would have been a great game if it hadn't been so buggy.

How about The Corporate machine?

Are roller coaster tycoon/zoo tycoon/railroad tycoon any good?
That is, do the have a deep well thought out economic system?

Any other economic games you'd recommend?

Thanks,

B.

if you can get a game call "afterlife" it is an old based dos game, probably can run under windows 95. If you can't just download it from Emule. It is a game that is like econ/sim/tycoon game. The premise of the game is simple, you manage souls that has been sent to heaven and hell after people has been dead. It is pretty funny concept and hilarous. Another similar game is dungeon keeper 1 and dungeon keeper 2. But these two are not really econ/tycoon game. but both are really funny in terms of ideas.

I tried to play one of those Roller Coaster Tycoon games.

I've never been so bored by a game in all my life.

Seriously.

Maybe it's just me, but every time I've tried a 'tycoon' or economy game, I've quit quickly, ready to break stuff I was so unfulfilled as a gamer.

Thanks Guys,

elias001: I've always wanted to play Dungeon keeper. I think I'll give that a try.

SanChonino: I know econ games are a tiny niche market. ...kind of like political sims.

Now if i could just program my own...

Love the Sid Meiers series of games . My fav is railroads, my wifes is civcity Rome.
Both of these games appear to play fine and cause no issues with my Dimension E510, I kept getting a minor crass with railroad tycoon.

Some of the tycoon games I find enjoyable:

Roller Coaster Tycoon series
Railroad Tycoon series
Monopoly Tycoon
Capitalism 2

Though not a tycoon game, Sim City 4 is awesome, and is similar to many tycoon games

Boring Tycoon games:

Restaurant Empire (might be fun if you like cooking)
Zoo Tycoon (seems to be for kids)

I'VE GOT IT I'VE GOT IT I'VE GOT IT

I'm just going to start calling Deathmatch-style games 'Tycoon' games. I'll refer to UT as 'Bodycount Tycoon' and Quake III as 'Giblet Tycoon'. I mean, isn't the goal of a Tycoon-style game to amass wealth and control something? In a Deathmatch game, I amass corpses and lay down bitchslaps!

Then I, too, can be a Tycoon gamer! ;)

(I'm vaguely sorry that I haven't been at all contributing to the greater discussion. But this thought made me laugh.)

lol... To each his own. I tend to like games where I can slow down and think. Simply because I am too slow to play FPS's. :NOTSURE:

I think, deep down, I'm really just a 'casual' gamer with ADHD. Because I have trouble playing a game for too long. I just get bored easily. The beautiful thing about Deathmatch games is that I can start one up, play for 15 minutes, exit out, and get back on with my life.

That's my biggest problem with SD's strategy titles - damn things suck me in for hours at a time, and that's against my usual gaming code. ;)

Agreed...that is a problem with strategy games in general. Sometimes it is difficult to start one if I don't have a block of at least an hour to play. (Which means that sometimes I can't play for days at a time). But I like to pretend that I am in control of something, so these games are a blast!

Isn't it funny how people who have a similar hobby can approach it from such different angles?

Personally, I like to retaliate against the fact that life is chaotic and without control by reveling in a pretend existence where there is even less control and more chaos.

In other words, by blowing crap up.

But that's the beautiful thing about games - to each his own.
