Pros and Cons of each Race

I know it has probably been asked before, but what are the basic pros and cons of each race? Who's the best economist, best rusher, that type of stuff.

TEC
If I had to pick a race for a player to start with, I'd pick this one. They are pretty well-rounded.

Advantages:
-Great economy because of trade ports and trade port upgrades
-Good early-game ships
-Novalith cannon is one of the better superweapons in the game
-The Kol stands as one of the better capital ships and is a good flagship

Disadvantages:
-Late game, their ships have a hard time fighting the Advent and Vasari
-Their fighters and bombers aren't the best

Vasari
Advent are like the Protoss in SC; they are strong but fewer in numbers.

Advantages:
-Strong ships throughout the game
-Extreme mobility due to phase gates (allows their ships to jump between gates)
-Great late game military due to Returning Armada (gives you free reinforcements every few minutes)

Disadvantages:
-Economy isn't the greatest, especially early game
-Hard to deal with multiple fronts early game
-No single capital ship stands out as the best performer, I find many of them lackluster

Advent
Advent are a very support-based race; their units can be weak individually but make up for it by awesome supporting abilities.

Advantages:
-Decent economy
-Strong capital ships with powerful support abilities
-Specialized ships like the Guardian which REALLY boost the effectiveness of your entire fleet
-Best culture in the game
-Cheap ships

Disadvantages
-Ships are weak individually
-Superweapon is probably the worst, in my opinion
-Ships won't increase in strength as much when compared to Vasari late game, but their fleet as a whole is the strongest

I hope that helps! I started out playing TEC, and I grew to love their ships (especially the Kol) and their playstyle. Pick a race, mess around with them, and eventually you will find one that clicks!

Thanks a bunch, FlyingNinja77! I hope this helps other people too, considering how easily interpretted. I believe I'll be playing TEC, and trying out Vasari (as I typically am eco player in most strategy games).

It is also worth trying out Advent, as some of their units are extremely powerful - but never fire a shot. Guardians, as stated, can basically double your fighting capacity if they have the repulsion ability researched.

The TEC start with more money, the Vasari with more crystal, and the Advent with more metal.

I find the role of Vasari Cap ships is hard to figure out at first but once you do they will all stand out. At first i used to think the marauder with its phase hull was worthless but then when i found out how to use it I found that it makes a very nice Crowd Control ship against Cap ships.

Phase Hull is wonderful to keep an enemy cap ship out of the fight while killing other targets.

No problem, I'm glad to help!

Yeah Heritor, I agree that Vasari capital ships have very specific niches...they also seem to just rub me the wrong way. When I bring in a level 6 Kol or Radiance into a battle, I feel much more empowered and confident than when I use any of the Vasari ships. They do have their uses but just don't seem to have the impact factor that the other races do.

I love "TDN Bahamut", my first Kol, to death :P

Oy Ninja. I don't agree with everything in your first post.

First, Vasari economy is very good. What throws people off is that it's a resource focus, not a credit focus. You get more resources as vasari. When necessary, you trade resources away for credits.

Second, Advent economy may be decent, but it's the worst in the game. Advent cannot upgrade their income of credits from tradeports, they don't get good extractors, although they can switch trade ports to a resource focus.

Last, I wouldn't call Advent ships weak individually. When you go in and take into account the number of ship slots per unit and cost of unit, Advent, TEC, and Vasari ships actually compare extremely well. What's exploited by an Advent player is the support abilities he can get for his ships, such as shield regen, malice, the aura from a halcyon, or the guardian shields.

Other than that, dead on man, dead on.

If I read the above correctly, it seems that the TEC are the king of the early game. The Vasari are the average at all stages and the Advent are the king of the late game.

What do you think.

Tec is best in the Early game. Advent best in the mid game due to Illuminators. Advent and Vasari tie in the late game as Subverters give you a counter to guardians and RA give you free reinforcements plus the Vasari Economy is better then the Advent.

Vasari cap ships are made more to fight other cap ships then they are to make your fleet better.

I honestly do not understand Vasari players having trouble with Advent in the late game. Fighting the Advent is all about picking them apart and Phase Missles hurt more for Advent.
