SR2 and SR2 expantion and Vista

Will expantion run in Vista

Hello,

My SR2 runs fine in XP, but since I bought new computer with Vista, I can not run it at all (some huge graphical giltches in menu). This happens on my Vista laptop as well. And indeed if you look into system requirements for SR, it says only XP, no Vista

Now, the expantion pack does say Vista in system requirements. So does it mean that it will run, despite the original game not being able to do so?

I can run the original in Vista. Haven't bought the expansion just yet:

First and foremost, go download the latest Starforce drivers.

A few tips:
Run as administrator
Turn off UAC (I did that the day I installed Vista :p)
Run in the various compatibility modes
Sacrifice a goat

The expansion does run in Vista and doesn't contain StarForce.

Do I have to install the original in order to install expansion, or just having original on the account is enough?
Also, if you say that expansion does not contain Starforce, does it mean that original DOES contain starforce? And if I have to install original, does it mean that I still will end up with starforce-infected computer?

Unless you bought the "complete" then yes you need to have the original installed and then either install the expansion to the same folder as the original, or install it to a fresh folder, then manually copy everything into the original folder.

And yes the original contains Starforce. So yes you will end up with a starforce infected machine. But once you get the expansion installed and working, you can run the star force cleaner tool (google for it) to get starforce off of your machine.

Oh yeah, good point with the expansion thing. I forgot about the no-starforce thing.

Install the game, install the expansion, remove the starforce, reboot. Repeat as needed.

Actually, I installed the SR2 again, and then run the Starforce removal tool - it says nothing to remove. May be SR2 was updated some time ago or SD version does not have starforce?

Or...the tool is LYING TO YOU! Muwhahahaha  ;p

Well, I did use it in the past, and it did uninstall the SF driver. So, I doubt that the tool is lying...

Just to make sure everyone's on the same page - only the retail version of Space Rangers 2 has StarForce. If you bought SR2 from us, you're already clear. ;)

Also, if I recall correctly, some games install Starforce whenever you start the game, rather than when the installer completes.

I'm running Vista 64 and can run SR2 with no problems. Only time I have glitches when I use my laptop with Vista 32 Home Premium and run it off the battery. Then I have this wierd graphics glitch where the graphics start overlying each other. Completely goes away when I plug the laptop into the wall.

As an aside this game rocks and I'm glad they choose to release it out on Stardock. I was pretty mad recently when I tried to reinstall NWN2 after I bought the expansion pack and misplaced the manual with the registration code. It gets really old having to keep all the CDs plus all documents so I can freakin play a game I already paid for.

A sure way to tell is that a StarForce game will need to reboot your PC after it gets done with its dirty business.

Hey! Thanks for the tip about plugging the laptop. I will try myself on mine. I have the same problem.
