Unlocking Secret Characters

I beat the game and unlocked most of the secret characters but because another user on my computer tampered with the files I could not play multilayer with them. So I decided to uninstall and reinstall Political Machine 2008 and now I want to get my characters back without having to go though campaign mode all over again.

Is there a way to unlock characters without going through campaign mode and still be able to play multilayer?

you would have to go into programs files and find the stardock folder. from there you'll find the political machine folder. Inside the data folder you should see the candidates information in an editable xml document that you can open with regular wordpad. The unlockable candidates are below the the starting sets. I was unable to distinguish the variable for locking/unlocking them becuase I am tired. Sorry. It's a start for ya though.

In your Political Machine folder find the file prefs.ini. Near the bottom of the screen you will see this:

[Unlockables]
DemCampSlot1=0
DemCampSlot2=0
DemCampSlot3=0
DemCampSlot4=0
DemCampSlot5=0
DemCampSlot6=0
DrengiVictoryQuickPlay=0
EuropaVictoryQuickPlay=0
RepCampSlot1=0
RepCampSlot2=0
RepCampSlot3=0
RepCampSlot4=0
RepCampSlot5=0
RepCampSlot6=0
USA2008VictoryQuickPlay=0
USACivilWarVictoryQuickPlay=0

Change all of the '0's to '1's and that will unlock them. Of course, only do this if you have already unlocked them via the campaign. Otherwise it's considered cheating! :D

You can also unlock candidate parts by playing and winning on each scenario.

You can then use these parts in the editor to build your candidate bobblehead.

I don't have a prefs.ini          Either I'm a 'tard and can't find it or I've got a different version than you.

I didn't seem to have one either. I've looked in all of the folders and it is not there. For that matter I can't even find the charecter I created.

Edit - Nevermind. I found both in the My Documents fiolder.
