Changing "Stubborn" Icons

So here's my problem:  I'm applying a new iconset, and noticing that, for a few folders & drives, the Windows default icon remains in place.

I've tried a couple of "rebuild icon" options (both in Icon Packager as well as in Tweak UI), with no success.

More specifically, the "stubborn" folders and drives that won't abandon their default icons are:

- DVD Drives in My Computer
- Desktop icon in "Save As" dialogs.

I'd be grateful for any info that you guys/gals could provide that might help me to resolve this.

(I'm running XP, SP2.)

Thanks,

Joe

UPDATE:  Also looking for info on how to change folders in the Firefox "File Upload" dialog.

For the drives issue try setting it to individual drive mode. that usually helps forcing XP to recognize the drive icons.

You may also try manually changing the icons in the drives properties menu. then rebooting instantly after appying the new icon.. some times this forces the Icon casche to accept the new Icon.

lemme know if these sugestions worked.. :)

HG, thanks for your response.

still haven't gotten it working how i'd like it to work.
there are people dealing with the same issue on this thread WWW Link
will keep my ear to the ground over there and see if a fix emerges.

thanks,

joe

oh btw, what is individual drive mode and how do i evoke it? (Google was silent on the subject)

Individual drive mode is set within Iconpackager. Go Iconpackager/icons & cursors tab/Drives button/Individual Drive Mode setting at mid left. This will allow you to select the icons used for each drive instad of a general Icon used for each drive type.

Go here for more ideas,  Tutorial section #2 https://forums.wincustomize.com/60776
theres a couple more sugestions to try in the icon packager Tutorial. One of them may work for you.

The developers are currently working on the fix for individual icons and a few smaller bugs that have cropped up. The moment it is tested and ready it will be available through Impulse.

If you can't get it resolved with HG's suggestions, don't worry ... a fix is on the way. ;)
