Facebook Leads MySpace

But will it last?

http://news.zdnet.com/2424-1035_22-207724.html

I was reading an article on ZDNet today which states that Facebook has overtaken MySpace in terms of world-wide unique visitors.  It's kind of surprising for me since I had heard Facebook traffic has been declining.  Analyss suspect much of this growth is due to an increased presence overseas, which does make sense.

Advertising dollars has still been a big problem for sites like Facebook, but it seems some recent hires in the PR department might be a way to turn their "image" around a bit.  I still use Facebook reguarly, but even with the new design of MySpace, my participation there has dropped considerably.

How many of your are on social network sites like Facebook and MySpace?  Do you find them useful?

Not me....can't get past the idea they're trawled by Paedophiles...

Makes the thought of them just all too icky....;)

Who has time for them?      :SURPRISED:

I've seen a teen friend of mines' profile on facebook and there are ALOT of 'kids' on that social network, (I guess they have more free time) I have nothing aganist kids, love, had several of my own, but I think it seems to target younger people, like Bebo. I was surprised about facebook leading over myspace, there seemsto be more than enough room for them all......... I should imagine.    :NOTSURE:

Same...myspace is a cesspool. But then again, I'm just antisocial anyway.

You're not antisocial, you're just *VERY* picky about you hang out with.

I used to be on Orkut.....and it sucked....

I'm on Facebook now, and all I need it for is to keep in touch with friends in school that I already know, seeing that I never invite anyone else to be my friend...I'm a regular user though, and it's quite fun...

Never used Myspace, but I think I should try it out...

I'm on myspace.  A friend told me that he thought I should stay away from facebook since they make it so hard to delete your account etc.  I like myspace.  I joined because I am a face painter and a face painting friend put a bunch of step by step tutorials and I wanted to be able top access them.  Now my number one entertainment on Myspace is music, checking out new bands etc.

unfortunately, i have far better things to do than play with myspace and facebook... things like have a life. have fun with my human friends. Sorry to say but i think sites like these are dangerous and should be obliterated. ;)

That's the reason I signed up for Myspace a couple years ago. Found quite a bit of good music from lesser known musicians that I may not have found otherwise. Hardly ever log in anymore though.

I use both MySpace and Facebook. The only people I share with on both sites are with people I know. No peds can see you if you set your settings to privite. Its a easey and quick way to share photos to my friends or out of state family members.

In the last year or so many of my secondary classmates have joined Facebook and it's great to be able to drop them notes now.

I only used MySpace to keep tabs on my kids when they were younger.

I don't use MySpace much.  But Facebook is a great way to connect to friends, co-workers, etc.

I'm all about Facebook myself. Their page style is somewhat minimalist which I respect...every time I've seen Myspace the pages looked terrible with hundreds of pictures of random people who may or may not be friends and bleh. Yeah, I get it, you have a billion friends. That hardly means I want to see them all.

Before Facebook, I couldn't imagine myself signing up to one of these social network sites. Now, I can't imagine myself leaving Facebook. :D

Facebook was wonderful until all of the applications came into play and they started letting anyone join. It was a great way to connect in the college setting. Although now I'm out of college, so the fact that others are on might be a good thing in the end ;) I got rid of Myspace so long ago. Facebook deserves to be #1 in my opinion though!

Most people I know have Facebook accounts and are in 30's age bracket.  I didn't join because two people I know always have their "couples" fights on their id tags.  It has made the whole thing very sleazy to me but a lot of other people I know enjoy it.

I look at it this way, if I wanted to keep in touch with a person, I still have their address.

I have a myspace account I created a while back but had not accessed till recently a few days ago to find a friend. Normally I don't care much for such sites. I could not stand having my gmail inbox flooded with "whats to be you friend" emails from strangers who wanted to add me to their endless list of strangers.

I don't like the myspace page style. Too much information on 11 screen, too much scrolling and the skins are terrible one on top of the other. Can barely see the back on. Just too messy for me. I like JU, its nice, clean simple and works for me. If I wanna keep contact with friends, that's what email is for.
