Thoosje Sidebar

Our Vista sidebar for Microsoft Windows XP and Vista has gadgets like media players, google search, yahoo search and lots of more search engines. It has also vista sidebar gadgets like weather and system uptime and lots of more useful gadgets. When ever I see the words Transformation Pack I become concerned because of the problems that have been identified in the forums with such programs. I don't want to use something that is going to be changing things in my computer that will cause me problems later.

Are ther any compatibility problems running with Stardocks prgrams?

It would be nice to see comments for the members here that are current using this sidebar.

I agree.Anything worth using will be recommended here first.Desktop Sidebar has a large following here at WC and if(I should say 'when' :LOL: ) I add another sidebar,it's my first choice.I at least trust the source.Otherwise,I'll leave it to Stardock to "transform" my Vista rig ;)

well, i only have the sidebar, and it works just like vista sidebar but more customizable, they have a great support forum at http://www.thoosje.com/vista-forum/

I use Desktop Sidebar, and have done so for years. It makes no changes to system files, has numerous plug-ins for just about anything, and is fully skinnable. It works with both XP and Vista.

jazzymjr, This is the second time I have seen you post about Desktop Sidebar. I have been wanting to try it but have been leary because I don't know if I can get it customized the way I want it. I just downloaded it on your say alone. I will give it a shot. I used googles for a while but oh so limited.

I used the Thoosje sidebar for a while, but it seemed to intrude too much into my other programs. The Desktop Sidebar, by contrast, uses nearly no resources and seems to be more stable. Plus, it offers more gadgets that I'll actually use and, frankly, looks better to me.

DS is a fun little application to use , I would be lost without it now ..I tried thoosjes and the google one too , but I could not skin them too good ... and , folks I have a lot of skins available for you , and DS members have made a lot more too .. There are almost 500 skins in the Homepage that you can download ..

Mike . . I've seen your work and think it's awesome . . I was jsut joshing at you because "master" is a title here at WC that one can't give oneself.  It's kinda cool that most of the folks that make master here are surprised when informed of the promotion.  Oftentimes, they don't think they are worthy yet.

It's kinda cool that most of the folks that make master here are surprised when informed of the promotion. Oftentimes, they don't think they are worthy yet.


I just thought I would add that the 'status' on DS is by request from other members ....

I , in no way , consider myself to be a 'Master Skinner' , I am still on that learning curve, and there are a few members whose skinning skills well surpass mine ..

Thoosje is a very young, very talented + dedicated skinner + app designer from the Netherlands - his 'sidebar' is refreshingly innovative, not the usual chunky 'Big Ben Tower' sidewalk & is loaded with options + is truly pleasing both functionally & aesthetically - have used it myself + I assure you it doesn't damage SFA - the provided link posted earlier by others on that incredibly drab website page does not do Thoosje justice - please consider instead his gallery at DeviantArt.comWWW Link

First,I see 3 skins,one is a beta.Hardly a gallery. ;) Second,it says "for XP" no mention of Vista.Third,after reading a few posts it sounds like a bunch of kids at DevArt.When they grow up,maybe they'll put things on WC. :LOL:

Now where did I say that? The sidebars I looked at looked ok,but not any better than what Vista came with.And two XP and one beta Vista skin isn't much of a gallery.I was referring to the comments being childish,not the work.And Btw,for me WC IS the only show in town,I don't read crap like"my site is better than your site" "I have more views than you","your work stinks"and assorted vulgarity here.Maybe you enjoy that but it does nothing to enhance my PC.How "innovative' are the f-bomb and Micheal Jackson jokes? At least I did go check it out,didn't I? :D

well hey Wiz, thx for not getting all defensive + in my face flaming on me + actually taking my feedback into objective consideration ;no harm, no foul as they say - your point about the 'comments', yeah, I simply igore that nonsense + focus on the what Thomas accomplished ;to be fair to him as well, Jordie Green is a provacateur + agitator & should you be unaware of the color backround on his nut job head F's, you would consider the 'my dick is bigger than yours' pissing contest very schoolyard - bottom line, he agitates Thoosje into reacting trying to bring attention to himself - that doesn't diminish the modest, yes, but beautifully executed + presented 'gallery' of his work . . .in the art world, one doesn't focus on the environment the work was produced in, just the finished result + that is why I watch his submissions to this day = bonus points, Thomas is also a very sweet, sincere, hard working young person who I would say has a career in customizations, programming or Tech possibly on the horizon

I'll look for some great things from Thoosje in the future. There are some other apps in his gallery worth looking into also,not just sidebars.I wish him luck.I enjoy the forums here so much,I guess I didn't realize what other forums were like. ;) I'll cover my ears next time. :LOL:
