Sitting in the airport

Wasted time.

So here I am sitting in the airport. Luckily, I have a net connection.

I am still here.  7 hours and counting.

Northwest sucks!

It could be worse. You could be stuck in an elevator. :)

Northwest sucks!

I think they all suck, just in their own unique ways.

I dunno, Cari, if you were stuck in the elevator you wouldn't have to hear the kid ten feet away screaming and crying away, as well as the old granny right behind you yelling 'What? I CAN'T HEAR YOU' into her phone.

The solitude of the broken elevator could be nice. ;)

A couple of weeks ago I was on my way back home, coming from Dallas... so several hours waiting in various terminals for connecting flights, etc. At DFW I got pulled aside for additional screening where they go through all your stuff.

The guard was laughing as he was rifling around, as I had filled my carry on with

3 seasons of star trek deep space 9 on dvd

3 novels (all sci-fi, two also star trek... I decided to go on a bit of a trekkie binge at this point)

tech manuals for work

laptop

sins of a solar empire w/manual (bought it but hadn't played it yet)

random other nerd-items I can't recall at the moment.

Anywho. Bringing all that stuff was actually well worth it. It turned a 5 hour wait in one terminal into a great chance to catch up on watching shows I haven't had the time to otherwise. The novels saved me on the plane from an obnoxious fellow passenger who didn't bring anything and wanted to pass the time on the 4 hour flight by talking. The work material was there as a token that I perused for an hour or so to justify my day in transit as having done something remotely 'productive'.

All in all, it turned a dreary 14 hour day into actually quite a fun escape into nerd-ism. Something that unfortunately I don't get the chance to do anymore!

Unless those people were stuck in the elevator with you :d

-----------------------------------------

Only thing worse than being stuck in a terminal waiting on a flight is the flight boarding on time then being stuck on the runway waiting to take off.

Worst one I ever had was sitting on a plane in Newark for over 90 minutes waiting to take a 45 minute flight home. X-( X-(

It is the weather as usual Brad.
Hang in there - looks to me you are doing a lot of work even while your waiting.

Again Very good articles you have posted today! Thanks...
It may be better to wait than not make it at all?!

7hrs at an airport would suck... and I'd probably climb the walls if I didn't have my lappy with me... or a good book.

I cant go most any where now without my lap top. tho mostly it sits untouched or playing a dvd etc music. Getting service away from home can be A most tedious job. even my hotel offers net service but typically it's not working....

I may look in to one of those new Net anywhere usb cards verizon offers.."wonder if they will cut a deal with me using them for every thing ,Fio's Net,TV,cell,tv. etc..
