Good game Dsep. They might not like it, but sporing sure is fun!!!

The downside is the bite it takes out of your economy. It took me quite a few months to recover in this setting after sporing a few enemy capitals that had already built some manufacturing / tech buildings.   

i had a pretty decent econ. i tried to boost my population to the max by lowering taxes. then i lowered production until i came back into the green. and then as i gained more money i adjusted the taxes and production rates accordingly...that said, i was in the negatives for a bit of the time (not too much of it though.)

I also had major problems trying to spore with 9 opponents. I had tried to go for a quick win with the Korath, but ended up with an economic crash after taking out the first 2 AI's within year 0. I had to abandon that game, and I ended up going with the Yor. Much easier to invade with them and they were more robust economically, I just couldn't get it done any faster than the 4 years I took.

Well, I will talk some smack for Neilo's sake. So although DethAdder might have 100k score in the bank, I'll one up him by proving you can win in zero years with these settings. In fact, I had to do it with ToTA, I'm not sure it can be done in DA/DL.

Great job Piznit! I honestly didn't think it was possible. Did you proc planetary conquest with Twilight creativity? Or is it just that the AI develops slower in Twilight?

Yes, I think you might be FORCED to do it on ToA, for creativity.

Although I did have another little trick up my sleeve with the Drengin, as well as who I invaded first.

Proc just means "triggered". I think it comes from the days of EverQuest, where people had weapons that would "proc" on an enemy when you hit them at random times.

I've got a guess: You invaded the Iconians or Thalans first? I might have to try for zyw using these settings when I get back (traveling for the weekend), now that I know it can be done. Just for fun .

i think i found out how he got that ZYW he played with one race using the korth or a costum race that uses sporship. am i right?

From his Reply#139 I would understand he played with the Drengin. Sporeships are not necessarily the best ZYW option, since sporing that many capitals will very much kill your economy.
Maybe the trick up his sleeve was massive extortion?

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Dear My Fellow MVL Players,

It is with the utmost regret and sadness, that I must inform you all of my untimely resignation as Commissioner of the Metaverse League. To serve such a short period of time and have to withdraw from that position, is very upsetting to me, and I hate to feel that I have let any one of you down.

Due to unforeseen economic situation, I am having to make some major adjustments to my "free" time; which will now result in what is basically a lack thereof. I place a very high value on my education, and the high costs associated with it, and I must let that take priority as much as it may pain me to do so.

As a corollary of this, I must also announce my withdrawal from the A-Team after this round, and even possibly this round- though, I am hoping to complete my current game for submission.

It is my personal suggestion, that for the remainder of this Round, that Commissioner duties fall to the Vice Commissioner, FireBender, with any other additional duty or action be handled by the other Administration members: Mumblefratz, KzintiPatriarch, and Commissioner Emeritus Neilo.

As a final thought, I have to say how incredibly wonderful and lucky I am to have been able to participate in such a fun activity. Also, I am very glad to been able to compete alongside or against some very awesome individuals. I can't wait for the day when I can compete whole heartedly again in the MVL.
