First mission of the TA campaign

I don't know if this is a very small spoiler so if you didn't play the first mission of the TA campaign I'd suggest you don't go on reading.

With this out of the way, I'd like to know if it is normal that the Dread Lords player has got ships with 158 attack on aug 2227 (and presumably even much earlier)

second: To win the mission I have to eliminate both the Korath and the Dread Lords?
Thanks.

Dread Lords have all techs as well as DL only techs, thus their insane ships/soldiering ability.

Yes, both e Korath & DL must be defeated. Send fleets of ships at the DL ships to pull them down. They aren't invincible.

Yes I did notice they were not invicible, but they sure look VERY powerful... Just wanted to make sure everything was all right :D

I asked because their behaviour was strange... e.g.

1) So far they kept to their planet (without colonizing at all)
2) They started launching attacks on me after I attacked them although we are supposedly in war status since the first turn, so why not earlier?
2) They are not present in the "stats" screens.

They are technically a minor race in that they don't create influence, cannot 'win' a game, aren't part of the UP...etc. They are in every campaign (DL/DA/TA) as well as a special event in sandbox games.

They are a EXTREMELY low pop race. Their ships take a long time to construct (thus why they probably didn't attack you earlier).

Thanks a lot, yes I had read about minor races but didn't think about it in regards to the DL.

Anyway, There's something about combat that still eludes me though.
There was this DL ship that had 1/12 HP. I attack it, the DL ship wins the combat and!? its HP go to 5! 5/12! from 1/12! How is that possible?

Did they transform my beams in HEALING ENERGY!??! :D

In this campaign, they throw you in the deep end.

And you stay there! :)

When a ship gains a level (through battle experience) it's current HP will go up, as well as it's max. Are you sure it didn't go from 1/12 to 5/16?

If not, but there was at least a turn between battles, it could have repaired 4hp worth of damage from sitting there. Repair rates differ if it's in space or in orbit of a planet.

Yes I am. Furthermore, there wasn't a single turn between the two fights: e.g. I attacked, enemy ship is at 1/12, then I checked back after the combat (still my turn) and the enemy ship's HP was 5/12. O_o

Furthermore, I constantly see numbers like 13/11 HP on ships in orbit around planets. Isn't this, like, weird? :D

13/11 or such isn't weird. If the ship's regen rate in orbit of a planet is 4hp a week and it's at 1/11, it'll regen that full 4hp a week until it hits/breaks it's max hp. So it'll go 1/11, 5/11, 9/11, 13/11.

As for the 1/12 to 5/12 in same turn....I'm baffled. That definitely sounds like a bug.

LOL @ "isn't weird"

It's perfectly clear to me WHY this happens (regen overflowing) but my question stands: is this a bug or a feature? LOL

And which is the "real" HP then? 13 or 11? If the max HP is 11 how can be 13? Sorry if I consider your answer unsatisfactory, but honestly, unless I am missing something, which probably is the case, I can't fathom a scenario where "13/11" isn't weird (or, worse, a bug).

It "isn't weird" to hear this happening I should have said.

I can't find a Stardock response on this issue, but it's been known by the community for some time now.

As far as I remember, the 13 is the new current hp.
