Impulse Update

Impulse Update

This will not be news to those that use Impulse often since Impulse will make an automatic update on it's own.

However I you do not use Impulse often please fire it up for a large update. Too many things were updated to list them all off. This is a FYI to all our customers.

Because that's where it was put.  :SURPRISED:

Click the tab or button and see what comes up. I think I see why it is where it is. Do you see Stardock products being, well I guess, advertised. Hmmmmmmm.

Seabass: After 2 days of pulling my hair out, I finally was able to completely wipe out the .Net framework 2 and higher, and successfully reinstalled all this morning (2.0 SP1, 3.0 SP1, 3.5). I then reinstalled the Impulse_Full, and successfully ran it. I'll see what happens after a reboot and a day or two, as I *had* gotten Impulse to load and connect once but the next day it wouldn't work (and my .Net stuff was corrupted (couldn't even load up any project in VS2008 at all). I'm still working on reinstalling SQL2005 Express, then VS2008. Hopefully I'll have everything back by the end of the day... and hopefully Impulse will still work.

Overall, I'd say it'd be nicer to have better error messages on failed installs/executions - telling the end user that there's an issue with the .Net framework or whatever the problem might be - rather than a general message of "failed install... you're screwed".

Look at the bottom of Impulse where the icons are, now look to the very right.  ;)

Maybe I'm going blind?

Or maybe there is an update that mine isn't detecting when it fires up. :NOTSURE:

My info is Impulse v2.90 - updated May 28, 2008.

Since gardenerstouch is seeing it also we must have the same version.

Impulse Version 2.90.166(images2.90.078) is what I see in "about Impulse" 5/21 is the newest file date.Updated5/28 in main history. No icon here. A "check for driver updates" link like in TweakVista would be nice.

Wizard1956 when I go to About Impulse I have the same numbers for that you have. I got the other numbers off View Impulse History just as you stated. So I'm not sure what is happening.

If I hover over the icon it reacts as the others do.

I'm on an XP system, wonder if that's the difference. :NOTSURE:

The NVIDIA tab should appear if your primary graphics card is from NVIDIA. I've made a few changes to the detection code that may help those with older cards (particularly if they are listed as "nVidia" rather than the current style of "NVIDIA"). If it fails to show up for you after the next couple of updates, please drop me a line at [my nickname] @ stardock.com.

The community and news pages are graphics-heavy. This is not likely to change much - Impulse is primarily used by people willing to download software, and so we have designed it for those with broadband connections. However, there's no good excuse for slowness, and there are certainly things that we can do to improve the performance on the server side. I'll have a chat with the people concerned about that.

Terrific news. I have dsl lite and the transfer rate is 12-22kbs.(It has dropped into the bps range) X-( I've been on my isp's ass for the last three days, trying to fix this. All sites are that bad, though, not just WC or Impulse, and only with downloads, not the rest of the site.Any help from anywhere will be greatly appreciated. This is the fastest connection I can afford right now.

Well that explains why I don't see it then. Thanks GreenReaper ;)

A update is on the private server and being tested.

An update for soon?

I'm not seeing the nvidia tab either!? Is this only for specific markets? I'm in Australia.. I have to say the main annoyance that I have with digital distribution systems like Impulse (for example Steam) is that they restrict releases based on region in order to maintain archaic pricing protection..

It is my belief that someone selling a product for $30 in the US should be happy to sell it for $30 USD in the rest of the world..
There should be no restrictions on markets. If by chance you have remained logged in be sure to restart Impulse to get some of the latest updates. If it still dose not show up I would try a simple uninstall and reinstall. Let us know at [email protected] if you still have further troubles.

GeForce 8800GT; but the NVIDIA tab doesn't show up. Maybe it doesn't work on 64bit yet?

Maybe this can be unsticked?
