Describe the perfect Zombie Game!

Describe the perfect Zombie Game!

Honestly, tell me! I need to know

I'm leading a 5-member team in Warcraft3 on making a massive Zombie-Based game.
While all the members of my team have pitched forth alot of ideas for the game, I still want more.  More. MOAR.

So; describe the perfect Zombie game you can come up with. It doesn't even have to exist!  What are some features that set it apart form other games?    What can  you do in it that keeps it from getting boring?  Is there a story behind it?  What are some ways you kill zombies or stay in head of them?

Some things to keep in mind:
-Game is in third perspective.
-Game does not follow a storyline; aka linear game play.  Players are put in a town and survive off of it.  Much more complex than that though
-Be creative. I don't care if you have played warcraft3 and don't think your feature can be done.  Tell us.  Chances are that feature will spawn more ideas that can go into the game.

Of course, here's a link for our small sub-forum that has some of the ideas.  But put any ideas here rather than there =/
http://clanbom.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=48

And thanks for helping us out, it does wonders.
(this isn't Spam, I check these forums several times a day >: (    )

I really want for this thread to be active again. Also they are planning to make World War Z into a movie!

Surprisenly, this project is still active.

The storyline has changed alot, and thus little work was done outside of models.
Some example pics from the models I made can be found here;
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/f202/lighting-modern-objects-model-package-92836/

Along with that, some minor updates:
Game will be split into two confirmed parts; one taking place inside, the other taking place outside.

Part One(inside) will be a test of our triggers, what players want, ect. We aren't devoting too much time into it.
However, Part Two will have many of the features in part one, and many new features that rarely have been seen in Warcraft III.

Still am looking for things people love seeing in zombie games though :p

I'm sick and mother f*ckin' tired of being chased by zombies.Screw that. I want to be the first zombie, out infecting the unsuspecting town. Now THAT'S a zombie game I'd finally give a damn about - be the antagonist, be the bad guy, kill all the humans or zombify them.

Left 4 Dead has me turgid in anticipation, and IIRC, there was an isuue of PC Gamer showing off a bunch of zombie games in the next year or two.

My ideal for a zombie-survival game is this:
Similar format to Grand Theft Auto(Vice City, San Andreas, 4), third person, free-roaming. Setting might shift from a city, to suburbia, to rural areas, but will be one, huge seamless world(and, as in the GTA series, certain areas may be locked until certain plot-points are satisfied.

Time cycles through day and night, and in addition to life/hp, the player must maintain food, water, and rest/fatigue attributes. The player, can scavenge supplies, all the while avoiding or fighting small pockets of zombies, or huge masses. Other individual survivors, or groups of survivors, would provide the players with missions and the choice to fulfill them: Do I help the holed-up grandfather and his grandchildren by finding them some medicine at the pharmacy at the other end of town? Or do I take their supplies and leave them to their doom? Depending on which factions you aid/ignore, other factions would treat you favorably or unfavorably, and open/close certain mission paths.

Of course, various weapons could be scavenged from the ruins:axes, bats, molotov cocktails, and firearms. Ammunition would be a precious commodity, and you would treasure every round and wince with every missed shot.

Viewpoint would be third-person, zooming to over-the-shoulder when a weapon is drawn for better aiming. Useable vehicles would be rare, but useable, and of course gas would be a factor.

There are other things that I can't think of now, but a game like that would keep me saucer-eyed at my monitor for unacceptably long amounts of time.

My Perfect Zombie Game: you are a survivor in a world-wide Zombie outbreak and you live in a small sequestered village in what was once a thriving city, you were born into a world of zombies, you live in a world of zombies, you will die in a world of zombies. You find your own food, search for your own water, and eke out survival in a hellish world. One day, you hear a repeating message on the radio that you are never supposed to turn off; a set of coordinates, you don't know where but can find it in the old library across town. you and your band of 3 survivors decide to set off for the unknown location of the coordinates as you are running out of places to find food. you must find what you need along the way, all you have is your father's old rifle and 6 bullets, minus the ones for you and your group. the road will be harsh as there are hordes of Undead between you and the library, not to mention where the message leads. One bite and you will die, one wrong turn and you will be surrounded, one mistake and the only humans you know will perish. You must find what you need to survive: food, water, guns, ammo, tools, these are the things you need to survive. You don't know who sent the message or even where it leads, you can only follow it.

I didn't read any of the posts except the OP, so if my idea sounds like yours, FU its mine. and I barely know anything about Left 4 Dead other than I want to play the shit out of it so again, FU, MINE!

Fill in any details you want that I didn't say or to fix it this is just my preface.

The main mechanic that I wnat focus on is the survival mechanic, not to say that the fighting mechanic is subpar its just that it is a survival/horror game, so you do actually need food water and shelter every day and tools when the ones you find break or you are finding it for the first time. Since you are traveling your weight must be light 50 ibs min if you want to run 75, if you want to jog..etc feel free to change to fit the game.

And I use Romaro Rules to my Zombie games, No Zombie is distingguishable from another one in terms of mental capacity, etc. (No fucking smart Zombies either) this also save time as you only need one AI. Though you can have the fast zombies if you want as zombies are only as strong or as fast as their human counterparts.

There will be guns only as the day-saver but the fighting mainly comes down to melee. (your machete is your friend)

I was serious when I said one bite and you die (I'm tired of games that don't do it) the way you can incorporate that into your game is that zombies mainly try to grab and claw and grapple so they can bite you. So you can probably incorporate a button sequence when the zombie grabs you.

Group survival is a must, YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOUR GROUP ALIVE AND WELL. It will be almost impossible to solve the game without your group, so build the game around that concept. This also makes for fun Co-op and Solo achievements as well.

Since the Zombie is the main enemy in the game. I say main because there might be other humans going to the Source (message) and you are fighting for the same resources, not to mention brigands and thieves, you are going to focus on a reactive AI to keep the zombies interesting, I will leave that up to you.

Another concept you could incorporate is that the zombies learn collectively giving your enemy a face (I am willing to bend the Rules on this for the sake of fun.)

Also I want a full unlockable campaign as a zombie no half-assed "you get to play as a zombie in multiplayer," shit i want the full dev's attention to being the zombie, fuck the realease date.

This is just a rough draft that I thought up about midnite so e-mail me if you have any questions or stuff as my game can go on and on and on. [email protected]

The dev's objective in this game is to give gamers the one and only zombie survival expirience as modern and realistic as you can make while still being fun and original

Oh and as for multiplayer do what you want I play Solo.

Oh yeah and one thing i for got to mention, the heart-wrenching choices, you know, the ones bioshock was supposed to give us and only gave us one, like do i let the other group take the last can of beans or do i kill them and take it, or one of my group members has been bitten, do i kill him now, or try to find a cure, or use him as much as i can then kill him, stuff like that.

Sadly, I'm off the team due to concerns of time managment (my main team member had only 1 and 1/2 months left to wtork on it before job, college, and gf crept up) and did not believe we could finish it by then.

However, he and another team mate are still working on it, so email me suggestions/concepts and I'll forward them to him.
