SKS6 - 'Edit Vista Part Colors'

a partial list of what they are

ok.. so i just recently noticed the 'Edit Vista Part Colours' in SKS6 under the 'Change Skin Colours' and though this (recently?) added feature is already proving (to me at least) pretty cool, its not actually 'labled' what each color is for.. just the RGB of the color.

So, I started a list of what the colors are and where they apply. However this is only a partial list as I could not determine what some of them actually changed.

If you can figure out what the missing colors (the light gray italiced numbers) are then by all means fill it in, I'll check back periodically on this thread to 'complete' the list as more items are found out as to what they actually pertain to... so... here is the list as of 8-13-08

SK can you do a UI comparison to find it and then maybe do a listing in a note for future reference?<p>

The way I tested these was to add a very off color (say bright green in some instances, bright red in others, ect.) and after appling the new color never saw where the change occured on the ones I could not find (and trust me I hunted for them). Thats not to say someone else might look in a place I didn't think of or maybe I overlooked. ~shrug~

Ok, found a few more items and added in the default colors (for easier referencing).

So, if you can find any of the light gray italiced colors PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post them for everyone else :)

Should have said Normal text/non default button or inactive window(all buttons text go this color)

The way I said it sounds like the button is inactive(disabled).
Which leads me to believe for the buttons either 3 or 7 is disabled.

I havnt seen color 1 yet...what dialog did you see it in SK?

SK...there are 18 colors in Control Panel.I think its the color between 12 and 13.(thats missing) ;)

And color 18 is some info/warning text...dont know what to call it.Its black by default.

Control Panel colors 3 and 6...no clue what to call them.3 is link mouseover and 6 is link normal...what kind of link is beyond me. ;)

Yeah that ones a little 'obscure' so to speak. Its the default highlight color. When you open a Task Dialog window there is usually an automatic default control that is already highlighted. This default will fluxuate and in its highlighted state (closest I can think of to call it). This color will show for the text as shown below...

I guess Control Panel colors 3 and 6 would be considered help links.

and just for looking...alt tab changed from its default black.

Weell that does it for me...I've spent days trying to track these colors down.

Its hard to believe these are not labeled in any way in SKS...its rediculous to be expected to set these colors and have NO idea whatsoever what they do. :( Retarded as hell. X-(

Would it have killed somebody to name these...maybe even an example of where to see them in Vista?

Typical that skinners have to provide their own info and no one from Stardock provides ANY help.

It took me 5 minutes to change them all to black.. Done!

There were supposed to be some new tutorials released with SKS 6.2 but for some reason they seem to have been delayed.  I will find out what is going on with those.

The Vista specific colours and fonts are a very new feature which is why there is currently no documentation on them.  This will be improved in future SKS builds.

If you do have a specific problem then your best bet is to e-mail me directly.

So why are these colors not directly editable from the sections they are pertaining too?

Such as editing the shellstyle(taskpane) in XP...you set the colors for that entire section from one section of the tree.

Why lump them all into one area where you cant even see what they are affecting?
Dont you even have a master list of what these colors are?

The specific problem is WE ALL want to know what all the colors are for...do you really want ALL of us emailing you individually when you could show everyone right here. :p
