What the hell does iris identification have to do with stopping illegal immigration?

That business about iris scans and fingerprint ID at the border was the dumbest thing Kerry's ever said. I couldn't believe it. His whole shtick tonite is pander, pander, pander.

Again Daiwa, I'm sure the offenders are crossing legally, only at border checks where they can be I.D.ed, not sneaking across the borders..............right.

How about the fact that the assault weapon ban only banned weapons on how they look not on how they fired.

Folks coming over the border fear this type of scrutiny. It's true. Can it ever happen? Should it? I don't know.

I thought last debate when he said he could tell just by looking that nobody in teh room other than bush, the moderator and himself make over 200k a year was the dumbest thing he's ever said.

The Kerry pandering continues in the question on faith.

He mentions the Koran, the bible, the Tora, and even native Americans.  What's next? Wicca?

And then Kerry mentions John McCain twice in one answer.

Apparently his Catholic background missed the part about strait (the narrow) is the path, and narrow is the way that leads to salvation. With him it's all I'm ok, you're ok, religious freedom to him is not just allowing people to worship as they will, but not rocking any boats by making a stand on his "faith."

The problem is you have to have the iris scan or fingerprint on file to match against. That's why it is such a dumb idea. It's completely ludicrous to consider that sort of technology as a border entry tool because the bad guys aren't likely to submit samples. Not to mention how many Cray's it would take to make work in real time.

Exactly. If my "repeat offender" parents had files against them, they would have been detained.

Bush reminded me of the man I voted for 4-years ago....nice job tonight Dubbya

You noticed that? Like I said, pander, pander, pander.

If you ask me, Schiefer saved CBS's bacon.

I think Bush came across as much more confident & comfortable than in even the second debate. Kerry came across as negative, negative, negative; Bush as positive, positive, positive. No knockout punch for Kerry.

Bush kicked butt, although you wouldn't know it from the spin doctors on npr right now......

Is it just myself OR does Teresa HK look like a mean person while Laura looks like a nice person?

Though still want to tap that Presidential Daughter as...

Funny when Bush said people can understand what Laura Bush says!
Well I think Bush won this debate pretty decidedly.  Not as decidedly as Kerry won the first one though.

I also noticed that even on Fox, they kept the camera on Bush during Kerry's answers far more than they did on Kerry during Bush's answers. Brit Hume's guys, who felt Bush lost the first two debates, are giving Bush an eigth round knockout. Quite a difference.

Of course NPR wants Kerry to win.

I agree with Draginol (goddamit, is it a virus???) but Bush won this one, if not as decisevely as Kerry won the first one, still, the President was the clear winner IMHO.

did you notice when president Bush shut down Kerry's attempt to make it look like McCain was for Kerry? Definate point for Bush

Funny when Bush said people can understand what Laura Bush says!

He really connected with the audience on that question.

I was watching the Hardball pre-show and they predicted that Kerry would be the first one to mention Iraq. Sure enough, first question, he goes into foreign policy. I think he was reaching tonight, should have stuck with domestic policy. Im used to them dodging questions but it seemed Kerry did it every other time he spoke. Definate victory for Bush! and for Myrrander- what does IMHO mean? Have seen it multiple times and still cant figure it out.

Many of the "illegals" that we have to deal with in the school district are "multiple offenders." That means they've made more than one crossing. Iris ID could curb this. I'm really divided on this issue, I love my kids that make it here -- but iris ID is something that they are scared of, from my conversations with students.

The problem is making that technically feasible - I don't think even the feds have the computing power to do that real time. It's like Kerry saying we should x-ray every container that comes into the country - it's completely ludicrous and won't happen.
