Savage look-alike?

Before I start, I'd just like to point out that I am in no way slating the game or disputing it. I'd just like to get your opinions on this topic.

Now then: How many of you have played Savage?

If you have, then you'd know that you can be the 'leader', which involves building structures and ordering the other human characters around. If your not a leader, then you are the 'savage'. Basically, as a savage you just run around killing other people on the opposing team, and eventually destroying the enemys keep.

I was going to pre-order this game, however, im not sure because to me, it appears to be another Savage. You can be a leader, spawn troops and buildings etc, or you can just be a normal 'soldier-type' person running around.

So I was just wondering on your opinions as to whether you think this will be similiar to  Savage.

Thanks for reading, and please, please point out any obvious information that I may have overlooked.

Cheers.

No as to my understanding its not like Savage, mainly in that all the troops are computer-controlled or directly controled by you, rather than individual players.

Having never played Savage, i can't really give an accurate comment but from what Electricnexus says, especially the phrase 'spawn troops' plus the fact that there will be human controlled Assassins roaming around for you to kill, the two games do sound slightly similar in some respects.

I haven't played Savage, but another distinction is that Demigod will be a lot smaller scale and more organized (1-10 players). In Savage it's usually 20-player matches which are composed of whoever gets there first. In Demigod I expect some predefined organized teams to start pwning ass. Hoping to see a 2v2 ladder! *waits for beta*

Also, as far as I understand it, in Savage the commander isn't actually in the game, but just builds buildings and commands the other players -- savages arounds. In Demigod the general will be an entity on the battlefield with an aura, he'll build buildings and spawn creatures. In Savage there's one commander, while in Demigod there can be several generals -- they are just a type of "hero".

I thought Demigod would be much larger in scale since it is built on the Supreme Commander engine which is all about massiveness?

It's the same engine, but they are designing this game not to be drawn out 5 hour affairs, but short(er) bursts of gameplay that you can dip in and out of. Having massive maps wouldn't work for that so they have downsized it a little as far as i know :)

i played savage and as far as i seen it is exactly like savage:
1) you do not stay the level you gained in a match/game/whatever (really!! sucks it is like its not an rpg at all just a bonus you gain in match...)
2) you have a limited area to be in (i dont care about that but it should be big!! really big!)
3) general and assasins are exactly like savage general do the building stuff in stratgy mode and assassin is a hero that destroy enemy (will it all be with mouse or keyboard is usable for attacking/moving?)
well i dont know about equipment but if it stays only in the time you play in the match its makes it more like savage (same with gold)

if developers want to suprise us and make us more happy:
make a game diffrent from savage! the point of RPG is to gain Levels/Gold/Equipment and to stay with it! not lose it!
copy from BF not from Savage! thats my opinion, any way i did pre-ordered and i expect a very good game
either it will be savage like (wich i will be very disapointed) or a spical new game that is not savage like (wich i would extremly be happy to play)

skill level or equipment staying between matches is just a bad idea if you want a fair and even playing field - at least if is for multiplayer, in singleplayer its perfectly fine.

Demigod isn't a RPG after all.

Since when could a Savage commander spawn troops? Savage 2 commander can spawn upto 3 NPC builders, but they aren't troops and they sure as heck aren't going to be much use in a fight.

The Savage commander's job was to coordinate people (or try to, pubs don't believe in following orders) and build stuff (a job that can be done in Savage 2 without the use of a commander). Savage 2 commanders got to kind of buff/debuff people. The Demigod General controls a bundle of NPCs to help with actual combat (but not all of them, as far as I'm aware), and you aren't limited to one general per team.

As for comparing Assassins to Savage soldiers, that's kind of silly, because every game involving combat is going to have combatants. Are we going to call Demigod a TF2 clone because the Assassin serves the same purpose as Heavy Weapons Guy/Pyro/Demoman/etc?

And of course, Savage has it's roots firmly planted in First Person Shooters, Demigod does not appear to. That said, we really can't say what all Demigod is really like until we have more info.

It may not be a savage like but all i heared from this community just make it look like a copy from savage
but I dont think it will be like that at all. I just told what the facts I collected from hearing you guys saying "the game will be..."
but I wouldn't preordered the game if it was savage like... i'am expecting a really good game
and I didnt mean any harm from my saying, so dont make it personal.

If it's anything like Savage, it'll be a terrible, broken and unpolished game that basically sinks without a trace. The original Savage was horrible.

agree but after reading the last journal i dont think it will be like savage he said they dont
want it to look like any game that is there. (by the way if the idea is taken from dota you are making
a game that is like another game out there...)

Wow...Just Wow.... This game is nothing, i repeat nothing like savage...AT ALLLLLLL. Right now i play savage 2 alot, i can tell all of you, this is notrhing like it. Hell look at the screenshots O.o way better graphics.

For those of you who have not played savage i'll give you a rundown.

You start off in a map similar to a typical RTS map, one main base a gold mine some random mobs. With other gold mines about that you can go and take over and build at to get resources for your faction. You can fight other players ina melee style rock paper scissors fight of Attack, block, or parry or whatever. (i forget waht stuff is caleld soemtimes) I'll hold off on commenting about the bugs or lag and jsut keep going with the synopsis, you're main goal is to destroy the enemy's base. Woah thats original....does that make demigod like savage? no. There are no computer controlled mobs that rush the different lanes of the map, there are noe huge colossus bad ass lookin guys. Oh wait there is the behemoth but he sucks...everyone just goes for becoming the demon guy anyways. The commander dosent get to build any troops at all, he just gets to sit up there and throw buffs and buildings down, its really boring being the commander. So the difference in Demigod as i can see it so far is pretty much everything. Yes you get items and lvl up your hero for that round in Savage 2 again its not that original. Whats original about savage is the mix of rts fps and rpgishness.

So whoever is being retarded and saying demigod is gonna be like savage 2 is silly. I mean come on! it's called Demigod! there will be badassery and epicness to boot. But hey i'll be in the ebta so after i play it i'll let y'all know about how it's really like.

Hm, you have to pay for the beta, so it´s not really "public". I think there will be a NDA, you´re not allowed to tell us anything about it :(
But I hope, there will be some gameplay videos :)
There won't be an NDA for the public beta portion, it'd be too many people to keep track of. an NDA requires thats the person receive the forms, Read sign and fax/scan/mail back said forms, it will be too much BS at that point. Besides they want people in the beta to spread a hype about the game. So that you come onto forums like this or Game replays or wherever and talk it up so that people in those gaming communities think about spending their money on Demigod and not "Joe Blow action adventure shoot em up" trash games
