Metaverse wars. A idea that might remeady not having multyplayer.

Every empire has enemys, especially if you are part of the Kzinti (like me! :CONGRAT: ). So maybe we can have metaverse wars. The only problem is that as we know. The metaverse does not support multyiplayer. But that is a problem that can be easily solved. If you ever played NationStates (I know at leat some of you played so dont lie! :( ). They just roleplay because they cant face the other nations . We could do that, but instead of just completly making it up. We can decided how wins battles by which selected player gains the most metarverse points for that match. A example whould be if the Kzinti and the Autobots go to war with each other. The two empires choose players to repersent them for the battle. Then they negotiate what the map should be like map size, how many planets there should be and the other stuff like that. Then you come up with reasons for why you want to win, (like the Autobots what to win this sector because of all the metal and energy, and the Kzinti want it becasue of all the catnip that is in there. And then how gets the most points wins that battle. This contuines until one side surrneders, peace is made, or the empire is conqured.

(Also a member of the best empire Kzinti)

I was thinking they can do something like tournament mode, except make it clan based. You can have a clan pick a representative race and have them play against another clan's representative race on a premade map. The top 5 or so scores could count (or what ever the premade agreement was). Things like points or some part of the universe can be wagered over the fight.

Its a good idea.

Somewhat like the MVL except exclusively for inter-empire competitions.

It's a nice alternative.

Hmm...That sounds intriguing. I wonder if there would be enough interest where a referee could set the game up and email the starting point (or some point in the game) to the contenders, let them play it out and email the games back to the empire leaders. The leaders could then look at things like score and speed or maybe some other key element and declare a winner.

The games wouldn't be metaverse compatible, but they would match people up on as close to an equal footing as can be done with Galciv2.

Hmm, maybe we could just post the settings screenshots(like in the MVL) and let the empires get lucky.

Perhaps the league could host this... it's a nice alternative to role-playing. ;)

Maybe, but we should wait untill all the leaders of the empires get their say on this.

I missed this thread before somehow. Sounds like an interesting idea to me, and it could be set up in a way that was similar to the MVL. On the other hand, if it's too similar to the MVL, there might not be enough interest to support another competition. Let's see if some other Emperors respond.

Motti, you could play for both the Kzinti and ToE, and compete against yourself! ;)

As a former Metaverse Council member who was appointed to represent the oddball crowds, I feel obliged to mention that many of us don't think "not having multiplayer" requires a "remedy."

That said, I did end up making almost every one of my games in the last year an MV game.

IMO, we're better off with devs who assume that top-quality single player performance is job 1. But I also have growing affection for the kludgey demi-multiplayer thing that GC2 has spawned. Metaverse Wars could end up being an interesting complement to the MVL, especially if folks could work out a way to track the same players in different "leagues."

Perhaps this should be brought up in the Galactic Senate and allow a vote to be called.

i agree...let's vote!...on the Galactic Senate thread.

Given my present lack of empire and likely long term lack of powerful empire, I have no real voice on the Senate bit, but I encourage anyone participating in it presently to call this issue to a vote following the Senate election.
