Hillary: Obama’s Mentor

One thing you must give credit to Clinton’s campaign is that she has toughened Obama to look beyond the “fairy tale” of change and to admit to the full range of many cultures of the Democratic Party. Far from being a drain on the strength of the party she has actually highlighted the undercurrent forces of Democrats who are not liberal elitists and also need a voice. As a young man voting for Adlai Stevenson twice I learned the hard way that glowing oratory and intellectual arrogance is not the way to win the Presidency.

Ted Kennedy early on hopped on the Obama wagon because the candidate was inspiring in the Kennedy tradition, except he forgot that his brothers, though masters of heart tugging speeches, were hard-nosed politicians—JFK's choice of JBJ; Robert debating an empty chair won the senate and returned as promised to thank those at the Brooklyn fish market.

LBJ?

You may be right about Obama, but I think you are wrong about Teddy. He was out to get the clintons because of the last Convention where he was up against them for the site. Teddy is not a big thought guy, just a clownish buffon, whose modus operandi can always be traced to spite and hate.

Nevertheless, Ted arguably will go down in history as the nation's top ten senators ever. :)

It it also could be that the Clinton's have been excoriating Ted's pet project NCLB.

I would have to wonder why the Clintons would be against NCLB. After all, the genesis of that legislation was an initiative called "Goals 2000", which was co-authored by none other than William Jefferson Clinton.

The Clintons have spent 20+ years begging the federal government (I almost typed "feral"...wouldn't THAT have been the most Freudian of slips!) to tighten their reins on local school districts, it's disingenuous for them to whine about it now!

You mean other than the unrealistic goals, completely unmet promises of adequate funding and the completely irrational logic behind the claim that anytime a kid fails its because of the teacher?

Gee, I can't imagine why.

And the Genesis of the 207 Chicago Bears was a team that went to the Super Bowl in 2006 yet they still didn't make the playoffs. Things can have an adequate base and still fail. If you look at GW's money and education you would expect that he would be fluent in the english language.

There were 207 bears? Kind of illegal in football.

I accept your admission that you are soiling yourself in terror at the concept of attempting to argue the point.

What point? The one on the top of your head? YOu flatter yourself in thinking you have any others, or any rational thoughts. But then I can see that you have no sense of humor either. Very Liberal of you. You are a good Bundist.

Nothing wrong with the goals, but faulty means.

I wish Robert Kennedy was running for president...*sigh*

A sweet dream, but inappropriate for JU.
