I have had a wavering view on what we should do with the debt, but the point remains that we need to reduce it dramatically, and to do that we need to both increase revenue and decrease expenses. To increase revenue, I propose a sales and services tax to the tune of about 3%. In Michigan, a tax rate of 6% provides roughly 50% of the state's revenue. Along with the sales tax, a gas, alcohol and tobacco tax should be instituted or raised. Would you be vehemently opposed to this? Why?
