A Idea about how you can play with other people on the Metaverse.

Since we all know GalCiv2 is a turn based games, facing other people would take a lot of time. So I came up with a idea about this. When people want to face each other they can decide how long a turn can be so they people dont hog up all the time, and when people need to leave. Their would be a button where your can have the game be taken over by a very smart A.I which would mimick what you had done in your previous turns, and if you are planning to do something diffrent you can leave the A.I a set of instructions and then repeat it back to you so you can make sure it knows what you what to be done. If there are any problems I am sure stardock would be able to fix it because they are the best.

Well, Galciv2 is a single player game, so that's not going to happen. Stardock has plenty to do without diverting resources to MP.

That being said, there was a game in the early days of the BBS called Tradewars. It was a turn based game where a player would get so many turns per day. That sort of style might work in a Galciv2 type game. The AI would take over for the player if he or she wasn't online and would play some weak, but standard tactics. The game had economy, technology, good and evil alignments, etc.

It wouldn't be Galciv2, but some sort of hybrid of Tradewars and Galciv2. GalWars, perhaps.

Now, all we need are some coders, some creative leadership, financial backing, a publisher, lawyers, some way to distribute the game and some advertising to get started. Easy as pie.  ;)

Lawyers, one of most scary things on the planet  (:(. Also why would you need lawyers?

um... what you have just segested for a multiplayer system on Galactic Civilizations has already been made for older Turn-based stratagies. The facts are those ideas never caught on. Infact I own one so I know exacly what it is like to play with these ideas. To be honest it is Crap, you loss interest so easily and it isn't as half enjoyable as you think.

What I want for Galciv 2 is a map editor.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it wouldn't work. There's a multiplayer game that Stardock does called Sins of a Solar Empire. From what I gather, it has similar elements to Galciv2 and is reportedly quite good. I'm not a big fan of MP, so I haven't bought it.

The link to their forums is here.

It might be worth checking out if you haven't already.

But Sins of a solar empire is real time, and Galciv2 is turn based.

well it does but it doesn't... It is HELL when someone goes AFK on a normal game. It works perfectly, no flaws. but It is very boring, turn-based and multiplayer are not exactly the best combo.

your forgetting Sins of a solar empire is Real time stratagy. not turn-based. Sins is more like Homeworld 2.
