sook!!. he gets ratings that the rest of us can only dream of getting and yet when he loses one star he cracks the shits, pulls his gallery and leaves. pffft. Well forgive me if i have absolutely no sympathy for him. this is the type of thing i would expect from a 10 year old not a senior elder of this community.
If this is the case, they should not have been moderated when they were updated.
How can you blame the lower rating on a moderator in this case?
Not true. Anything that gets updated, no matter your level, goes into moderation. Happens to me too. Jafo (I think) gave an explanation as to why once...
Zoomba, i'm not piling on him, just saying what i think has to be said. If everyone got so upset over the star ratings the galleries would be empty. While having more stars is a great boost to the ego the fact of the matter is look at his download count. it's obvious richards work is exceptionally talented and people love it. But it leaves a sour taste when someone reacts so badly to a little yellow star. His work speaks for itself, I just don't get why he would do this.
3 stars is average. 4 stars is above average. 5 stars is perfect. I haven't seen many walls that I would consider perfect, Bryce included. But a lot of people carry their own fan base that rates 5 stars on everything so sometimes people expect 5 stars. Not many walls get 5000 downloads much less 1000. So one wonders how a wall with, say, 350 downloads should get 5 stars! Or even 700 downloads. One would think thats reserved for walls that get 1000's of downloads. But what do I know, I'am just one of those mods that suck. :SNIFF!: Truth is how many different ways can you make a squiggle, swirlie look good even with different colors? Don't get me wrong, I did like a bunch of your walls and I'am sure I commented on a bunch. But its your choice to stay or leave but if I uploaded, I'd be happy with all 4 stars. I don't need to be perfect.
I have used many of Richards skins in customizing my desktop. I will miss him and his talent greatly.
The community we have here is not unlike any other, real or virtual. At some point in time for some it will no longer provide what they need and only a change or move to a new community is the answer.
Good bye Richard.
Yes, that's correct. The privilege of 'auto-upload' granted to Journeymen and beyond applies to the initial upload. The fact subsequent 'updates' ALL go through moderation is for a few reasons....one is that their being updated means there may be an issue with them...so the mods get a chance to see if there is - example....someone ups a skin that 'doesn't work' or 'doesn't download'.... we get the opportunity to check it's now fixed...before it goes public. Another reason is to check there is a reason for the update [with a reset date] and it's not simply someone trying to disadvantage others by reposting to the front page [newest] on every opportunity [it has happened in the past].
As a matter of interest....people such as Frogboy and myself actually do skin....and our updates go through the same moderation process as well....[I'm about to redo one]...;)
As was/is always the case....if anyone thinks there may be a specific issue with the ratings applied to one of their works.....simply PM me....I can check it is not an error/bug/whatever.
Richard.....since Zoomba has been in touch with you....I'll leave it with him...;)
I have to agree with you Island Dog on your post #25, it just makes me want to work harder to achieve my goal at making something that people will like, it has taken me ages to even have two of my wallpapers on the main page and at the moment I am a very happy lady.
Most people have better things to do with their lives than be constantly shit on. If you are a moderator you have to develop a thick skin and take it on the chin. As they say, no good deed goes unpunished...
Rich, it takes a 'MAN' to apologize and you've gone up in my estimations - a million times - for eating 'a bit of humble pie'. Just put it down to 'one of those moments' where frustration gets the better of you. It happens to a lot of us at some time or other and when all's said and done to say 'I'm really sorry' is a true reflection of a persons character.
Your a good guy and a great artist........welcome back home
Richard, thanks for popping back on the thread.
Since the issue has been resolved (as much as it can be) I'm going to close this thread down to keep it from being revived later.
Wheres the clappy emote...
