Do novels expose the truth of the government?

I don't know how many of you have read Tom Clancy's Executive Orer or Rainbow 6, and both are very interesting books. The thing that comes to my mind after reading these two novels while spending many hours on aircraft is that they portray the government agencies as ruthless and to the point. Executive Order chillingly predicited september 11th in an attack on the capital using an airplane. I have two points now:

1st- How was 9/11 or an attack w/ an airplane not planned for?
2nd- Is our CIA really that ruthless and uncivilized?

Lack of imagination in what Terrorists would do, after all who would have thought that four airplanes would get hijacked and turned into human missiles, very few people. After all the experience was car bombs not Airplane missiles.

No really LIKE I DID NOT READ THE BOOK BEFORE SEPT 11. (sarcasm)

Hell even the 'Bear and the Dragon' was out before 9/11

Of course I know it is in the book but I am talking about real life not book life here, in real life we were more worried about China being a Nuclear Threat than Terrorism since such a big strike like 9/11 had not happened.

Somebody missed the point I made to the question they asked.

I guess so. Sorry for being disjointed, I am just in a ranting and raving mood, as you will see if you read my most recent, disjointed article on religion.

That is okay it happens to the best of us more often than not.

I am a fan of Tom Clancy and loved the Rainbow Six Video Games, I just wish they took the good idea behind a team like Rainbow Six and made them a reality, a multi-national anti-terrorism force that has a world jurisdiction. Could help to eliminate terrorism in the world and would be a better use of manpower and money in a War on Terror.

Yes, his books are very good. When I read executive order, I couldn't help thinking that it would make a great movie, granted after 9/11 it is to risque, but rainbow 6 would still make a good movie.

Yes, Tom Clancy is great! It is so odd that he wrote about the plane hitting the capital. I read Executive Order in 2002 and I was shocked, anyway I've read many of his Jack Ryan books and I think they are great!

As for how the CIA is, I don't know enough about them to know for sure, but I know Sodium Penthanol(?) which is a truth serum is used in interrogations possibly. I know that it exists whether it is used I don't know.
