How many countrys does Galciv2 been bought in?

While looking through the forums I noticed that they are all in english. Does the translate the lanuage for you or does Galciv only attract englsih speaking people? If so I an dissapointed because its cool working with a bunch from germany or France.

I am german and i had to order the US Version, because there is no german version of Dark Avatar/the Gold edition (at least in stores). I heard Galactic Civilizations II was very poorly localized in the german version. But i like english more in games, but i can not really explain why. ;)
You can download a translation Mod made by the community for the Dark Avatar Expansion.

The poor internationality of the game may be the cause why nobody here knows it ^^ Its awesome and imho the best modern 4X Strategy ever, to bad it is not very available here in Germany.

Hi I'm not English and I'm playing this game since Dark Avatar entered beta testing in 2006. I'm from Poland and I'm enjoying this game as well as you do. I especially enjoying strategic corner where lots of good players coming up with really interesting strategies, i have also bought copy of Sins via Impulse and to be honest apart of Civ IV these are only games i have on my PC. I'd like to say that Stardock deserves my money as they giving me lots of fun.

Thank you for telling me this. now I undearstan why there are no forigen lanauge posts on this sight, Also I think the game is not translated into your recpective languages is because stardock is small company and probally could not afford making a translated version, if it could they would make so much in the international market, especially in Korea and Japan.

Occasionally there comes along someone with a question in french or german. Usually a bilingual Mod or some of the community will help them out. So you still can get help here if you don't speak english :) .

Being from Quebec, i could always stress on the fact that we're pretty tough on protecting our French-speaking colonization origins (In 1608 (400 years ago - wow), Samuel de Champlain founded Quebec city on the 'Cap' as we call it!) and a little stiff over the 'Anglophones' indirect heritance of conquest by Kings & Queens in Europe.
Now, off the historical shamble.

I do speak two lang(u)ages almost fluently and i'm willing to bet there has to be a few dozens more representatives of many different tongues hanging around these forums, daily.

GC being an American made game, it's perfectly natural for the US edge to shine here as much as the products SD creates.
I felt welcomed at first and it's been the case ever since.

Bravo, Ole, Asta-la-Vista...
Gaming is certainly a universal form of communications, anyway.

thanks for the replys. it is nice to know that people from other countrys can find something in common, polticens may trash games as wastening your life, and rubbish, and it is true for some games. but games provide us with something few other things can, the ability of letting people talk to each other and find something in common from diffrent countyrs is great.

It would be nice idea to create metaverse empire with at least one representative from each country (of course its impossible to get representative from every country). Multi National Task Force or something i bet that someone can come up with better name..what do you think guys? And logo would contain at least one national emblem from each country involved....can't wait for positive replies :)

Hello. I am from Ukraine, and I just recently discovered Galactic Civilization 2 Dark Avatar Gold in really great localization in russian language (my first language), so now I'm - one of the fans.

It's sad, but I'm one of that group of people, who didn't bought a single game over last eight years - all handreds of games on my PC are stolen by pirates and downloaded freely by me. Sorry for that... Really sorry.

But I still love you guys, who work in Stardock and created such a masterpiece as GalCiv2 really is. If I can't pay you, I can at least thank you.

Can't wait till I will finally download stolen copy of Twilight of Arnor. Sorry again, but I get only 100 dollars a month... And I still need food and clothes...

Best regards, and "hello" from Kiev (Kiyv), Ukraine.

True. There are people from lots of countries here, as it is really easy to buy the download version of game.

It is also the case for the french version. Thanksfully, some people have made an unofficial translation for GC2:DL, GC2: DA and there are currently working on translating TotA. They have also made an unofficial french version for Sins of a Solar Empire.

It is just a matter of taste but i like playing games in their original language (if i do understand it). Besides that english or something similar would be more likely an intergalactic language than german in the future. ;) But i really am curious about how my colleagues did, so i may download it and see how good it is.
