pauses in Dreams

In many dreams, there is a split second black screen at regular intervals, I imagine it is the end of the video loop.  Tried using both players, Windows and internal, but it's still happening. Any thoughts?

On most dreams or some?
Which ones always do it?
Are there any that don't?
Video and/or dynamic dreams?
What video card?
How much memory in system and on card?
Windows supplied codec or other?
If other, which?
Long walks on the beach or cuddling by a warm fire?*

*just a joke. :)

I believe you have a codec issue. Do you by chance have Nero 7 installed?

Sherlock is showing Nero DVD Decoder driver was not found and may not have been uninstalled properly. Other than that, Nero is not installed.

I'm still wondering how to check which codecs are being used in a specific application.

Thanks CarGuy1, I love your dreams btw!

Here's a good codec manager that you can use to check what's installed and disable them one at a time to figure out if you have one messing with Deskscapes. I suggest starting with the mpeg2 codecs in your diagnostics. Also if you see any Nero ones, try them first.

And thanks...I'm glad you like them. :)

Oh thank you! I disabled all codecs (except Microsoft's) while watching the dream play. It didnt make a difference at the time, but once I restarted the desktop backgound it worked flawlessly. No Nero's involved. Wasn't able to determine which codec it was, but at least it is working beautifully now! Thanks again guys. Dream on!

That pause or hiccup is quite irritating, glad you got it fixed. :)

Hmmm can it really be good to disable all codecs :NOTSURE: if you have problem after you have disabled the codecs then enable them again and locate this one "MainConcept MPEG Splitter DirectShow Filter" and disable only that one...worked for me and i was having the same problem as you :)

Arne, you are absolutely correct! It was the MainConcept MPEG Splitter causing the pauses AND the crashes when switching dreams.

MainConcept MPEG Splitter
Type: DirectShow Filter
File Description: Mpeg I/II Splitter
Version: 1.1.4178.0 2006/05/29
Company: MainConcept AG
Product Name: MainConcept® MPEG Splitter Filter
File name: C:\Program Files\MuveeNow 2.2\mvBurnerDll\mcspmpeg.ax

Problem solved :)
