One question... for those that preorder will the game be availible for digital download before June 17th? Or will if be closer to the gold date?
I hate to be a pain, but I've always been a political buff amd then I hear Stardock is the one making a game.... I can hardly wait. I'm hitting refresh all day long on the forums waiting for new info.
Thanks again!
Kyle
Indeed. I should clarify that we do have it available for a handful of people who have TGN accounts. But we have no formal beta program.
Thanks for the info.
I'm really loving the game and it's a great job given the tight deadline. I understand crunch time all too well, so I'll tip my hat to you.
A lot of that depends on the state of Impulse which is being launched with it. So the answer is, probably not. It'll all probably come out on June 17th no matter what.
Yea, I have to say, in the 20 or so years I've been making games, this one has been the roughest in terms of time constraints. I've never worked as many hours as I have on this.
Now, I should clarify something on that because what has happend with The Political Machine 2008 is that it's turned out so well that we're thinking that it may be a contender for turn-based strategy game of the year. It's turned out that well. So we're trying to polish it in ways that we've never polished any of our games before (including GalCiv or Sins).
But good things come to those who wait. Thanks for the info!
You can't. It was made available informally to some people who bought with tokens via TotalGaming.net.
Also how do you update a game in impulse?
Edit: Seems to be that my registration is gone for this game.
Anyway Stardock you're a bunch of teasers, but thanks for the sneak preview.
I will just have to wait with the rest of you people to play it again. Oh well it just means I'll go back to playing those other dull games such as GalCiv and Sins.
I had a buddy who hadn't played Stardock games before. We both ordered the beta shortly after the originally promised beta date (4/24 I think it was). I told him how great and customer oriented Stardock was. After our orders were placed we realized the beta wasnt REALLY available...yet noone had bothered to make a simple post in the forums to inform customers prior to make their orders. Suffice it to say my buddy is now of the opinion that Stardock is some rinky-dink company who neither cares about it customers nor is capable of responsible communication with its customers.
I must say it is a low point for Stardock. I love your games. But it makes it hard for me to bring you new customers when you fail. A lot of people who haven't played a Stardock game are going to buy PM 2008. Many will read these forums. None will walk away with an impression that Stay.
I'm not really that mad about not having a beta. I am disappointed in the communication. I am more disapointed that Stardock seems to have done nothing to try to make it right with their most loyal customers...the ones who preorder months in advance.
If Stardock has decided that big retailers are their most important customer they would do well to remember that retailers make decisions on how many copies to order based on preorders. If you don't treat your preorder customers right retail success won't follow.rdock is a better software company than the rest. That is sad because I know it is. It would have taken alot less effort to do this the right way than it will take to undo the damage of doing it the wrong wa
The claims of not having time to make beta available rings false when some got it and some didn't. Stardock has just been ignoring the underlying issues.
Explanations that don't add up and no effort to make it right? Might be a great game but, going to be very hard to get over the resentment of being strung along and lied to. Perhaps Brad spent too much time channeling Nixon on this one.
