Wow

I created this account just to complain to Stardock about my recently purchased copy of Sins of a Solar Empire. I had heard good things about this game, and have purchased and installed it and was looking to download any available updates to the game. Alas, I needed to created an account. That's where you lost me.

Oh, and there is no "contact us" feedback available. I have to create an account. Therefore you leave me no choice but to create a dummy account to leave feedback.

I have enough accounts on the internet already. You are not important enough to create an account for to download any available patches for a game I have already purchased.

I purchased the game from EB Games, if you care. They have great service and recommended your game.

Self-important companies/websites such as your self are beyond irritating. It frustrates me to no end to have to jump through hoops to get updates for a game I already bought. No, I do not want to give you my email address so that you can send me junk I do not want to hear about. No, I do not want you to contact me for any reason. I bought you game, I will contact you if the situation requires it. I do not wish to have any further relationship with Stardock beyond my purchase of your game. I will decide on future game purchases on merit alone, not your marketing departments spam. If you consider patches to your retail game to require additional commitment from the consumer, then that is fine, as that is your choice. It will, however, affect my decision to purchase games from Stardock in the future.

Sorry if this seems overly harsh, but it is rather tame compared to what I'm thinking right now. For what it's worth, I have enjoyed your game so far, but I will not be downloading patches for it nor visiting this website again. I just wanted to leave my feedback in the only method you seem to allow, so that hopefully you and I can avoid this situation if I happen to purchase a Stardock game in the future.

Cheers, and all the best,

Disgruntled Sins of a Solar Empire Customer who just wanted to download a patch but got pulled into a half-hour slog through the marshes of Stardock-feedback.

I think you're making an assumption here that full registration is required for updates, I don't believe that's the case. Just start the Sins Launcher and you will see an Update button. Just click on it.

HGJASDKLJD ....I'm sorry you feel so aggrieved by the methodology adopted by Stardock for accessing/updating their games and associated feedback/forums.

A large pecentage of Stardock's customers purchase the games themselves online, so the process is quite natural from the outset.

Simply creating an account to continue to update your purchase or seek feedback, etc. shouldn't be a big issue.  Stardock does NOT spam anyone, particularly its customers.  It's interesting to note, however that these same hoops you felt you had to jump through would have enabled you to access the feedback, assistance, patches you were seeking, thus defusing the motivation of the complaint here.

I agree that we can often end up with registrations, etc everywhere on the net...but that is really a product of involvement.

Hopefully your enjoyment of Sins will prompt you to reconsider.  I know myself that if a game/program/product is good enough I'll happily do whatever's required to enhance the enjoyment - upgrades/patches/bug fixes/forums, etc...;)

the use of a dummy account accomplishes this how?
