Just want to say thanks to IC for being on forum and reacting to this thread (im another victim of minidump).

Yes I have been a victim of "impersonation" several times now on ICO (by "Minidump" and several others).

The unfortunate part is that the "impersonators" know what I do/have done for this community and are deliberately trying to sabatoge the work/time I've invested. These individuals spam the chat with demoralizing comments about people's intelligence (using my name) when hosting/network-related questions pop up and are in general highly offensive to anyone watching the lobby chat.

My temporary solution:
I've used up all of my "smurfing" profile slots to grab as many iterations of "the Monk" as possible, however you will only ever see me (the real Monk   ) logged-in to ICO with "the Monk" (one space, no underscore/dash).


ICO desperately needs "igonore" and "report" buttons!

Perhaps I played the last game with minidump, ever. He hosted a game and when one of my teammates started beating up on him, he said something to the effect:

"If I can't have fun playing, no one else can have fun either. You guys just wasted your time."

...and then he pulled the plug on the game.

'You guys are overblowing this. "oh no, he's using cuss words and pretending to be me! My reputation online is ruuuined!!"'

And you, windex are really (and have been) really close to being blocked (your rude comments across these forums... and Multi's cat), so why don't you just stay out of this.

I rarely make rude comments. Sure, there are a few, but not as many as you're making it seem.

I can't edit my post for some stupid reason, but I'd like to add that while I agree with SD's position on vigilantism in theory, situations like this one show why it tends to happen. A lot.

well i am always supprised at some peoples behavour but they will get theres soon enough. I think they are rather blind to the consiquences and what there achiving. How sad.

As much as I've always hated the phrase -- or at least, the interpretation all to many use -- I fear its application is reasonably active here.

I know from experience that banning IPs and deleting forum accounts doesn't always work. All too often they come back using an anonymous proxy and a new gmail account, and start right where they left off.

The phrase, in essence, refers to the necessity of disciplining your child -- which was usually done by beating them. However, my complaint with it boils down to the fact that many people end up over using the "rod" (beat, aka spank, their child too much) using that as an excuse.

There is always going to be some form of online griefing or harassment. The most determined will always find some way to be annoying -- and for those people the ban stick will probably be the answer. But I think in 90% of the situations, just a simple ignore list will suffice.

Haha I remember that game. I'm the one who gave him a beat down at the beginning of the game. Basically he lost his cap and he I just started hitting his hw.

I can host games and I thought the game is suppose to "migrate" to a new host after 30 secs. But we all know that doesnt happen most of the time.

Something that needs to fix. Game still has many fundamental problems.


He then hosted a game under the name Runescape and everyone joined that game. We talked about how he was being a jerk and that a host needed to keep the game going (4v4). When he realized I was the one who gave him the beat down, He booted me and cussed me out on a whisper.


For the future guys u can easily find peoples ip (due to the game using p2p) and banned them from your router so you reject their ip from joining your games. Most isp have a certain range and just banned that range ie x.x.x.0:6112


In the future how do report people like him?

For goodness sake you no what this will lead to? Us not being able to use differant names and being limited to 3 slots or something Im not moaning about the quote , merely the fact that a high proportion of gamers seem to be short sited and selfish and their actions cause unecesary limitation because they cant use common sense.

Ideally it would be good if IC had a 24/7 admin on that room who just banned idiots , that way us responsible people can use the system fairly and fully as was originally intended. (Im guessing the admin thing is not feasible for IC though , I dont blame IC , they created a quality product but are going to be forced to take debilatating measures because of fools)

Im guessing if the guy in question sees this post we will all get the impersonation treatment , so if you see someone online called foxfire giving people grief its not me.

Sorry about double post but no edit again , anyway thanks for the workaround by using the router so I take it 100% with all thats been said theres no ignore, thats a shame.
