Propaganda. Dems don't want you to think of the military and imagine grownups making their own decisions. They wan't you to see some scared college kid pressed into service and sent over the top into the machine guns...

Since when do kids fight wars? Last time I checked when you graduate basic and AIT you are a soldier of the United States ________ (Army, Air Force, etc.) whether you are male or female.

Thought I remembered some speech from a Drill Sergeant bud of mine that said these sons of your's (parents) are no longer kids, but men and soldiers of the United States Army, hmm?

I fight an inside battle against calling my students kids sometimes. Honestly, this has little to do with their age and has a lot to do with my own inability to cope with my own advancing years.

I am successful in refusing to call or think of them as kids for two reasons.

1. I remember how much I hated it, when I was a young Soldier, when someone thought of me as a kid. Think of me as a newbie, a nug, inexperienced, even young. That was all fine. But I was not a kid. I hadn't been for years (I joined the Army at nearly 23).

2. Quite simply, they are not kids. They are 15 years my junior, but that doesn't make the kids. They are young. They are not children.

Dear God, please don't let me be genetically related to that looney tune, the ketchup queen. (shudders)

He was refering to the "kids" as in the children of the people his age.

No, no, no... you don't get to spin this one. Soldiers are not kids. You want to call them the sons and daughters of proud Americans or somesuch, that is completely different.

Bush refered to them as kids in the past.

I cry bullshit. First, I serve with people in their thirties, and forties. My wife's uncle is still active army at 54. Second, it was a straight up cheap propaganda shot. Again I say, boo on Kerry.

Can you cite this? I've never heard it. One saying it doesn't make it ok for the other, either. I'd say the same thing if it came from his mouth.

Take Sandy with a grain of salt. Today Sandy mentioned that Bush was the most unpopular President in history, too. She gets caught up in the moment...

After those cracks by Kerry, I think he'll be a lot less popular with the military, if that's possible. (Support rating of 17 to 18 percent, as opposed to Bush's 72 to 73 percent, according to the polls in this week's Army Times.)

No amount of spin in this can save it, soldiers are soldiers not kids, they are men and women but soldiers foremost, to call them kids is insulting, and I for one would be insulted if I was still in.

Calling them kids is a sin don't throw THAT DEFENSE'S 2 cents in!

I admited a mistake, something I praised Drmiller for doing when he/she did that. I see now that it is best to lie.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,133869,00.html

In the portion of the interview that aired Monday night, Bush said he wouldn't think twice about donning a flight suit and boarding an aircraft carrier again to thank U.S. troops personally for fighting abroad.

"These kids had been on a very long cruise,"Bush told O'Reilly. "They'd been on a cruise to both, in two theaters of war now, Afghanistan and Iraq.

i don't know what else to say.

get your cognitive dissonance pills ready gop dudes

I don't need any pills. Like I said, I hadn't heard it before. Thanks for the super big letters and bold. Maybe you think I'm a kid that needs your help to read a quote?

Like I said before, Soldiers aren't kids. Noone should refer to them that way. One saying it doesn't make it ok for the other.

Huh? How is that close to topic?

So many trolls... so few to hand out...

You're right, Bush did say it in when questioned about the flight suit, and boo on him for it, but there is a huge difference between slipping up once while praising the troops, (and I know that although I respect him more, he's not exactly a smooth talker,) and deliberately repeating it four or five times while condecending to them during a cheap propaganda stunt during a presidential debate with half the damned country watching, again....boo on kerry.
