How do you use the phase gates as the vasari?

Ok I spent at least 15 minutes trying to use the phase gates I made as the vasari and im starting to get pissed because ive tried sending my ships through by right clickin and they wont go.  Tried clicking on some boxed icon that explains its function but not how to flippin use the damn thing.  Somebody please tell me how to use them.  They are essential if im going to win this.

You don't actually need to do anything special to use them :) Phase gates automatically modify the gravity well of the planets they're on, to create "virtual" phase lanes between them. Just showing your ships to move to another planet where both have phase gates will cause them to jump in a straight line, not following the preset phase lane path.

Even if your target planet has no phase gate, the ships will still use phase gate shortcuts to save travelling time if they can ;)

Hope this helps!

It's worth noting that the "new" phase lanes do not appear on the map. Your vasari vessels will just jump through space without using a visible phase lane at all, much like all the races do when they jump from star to star.

thanks all. Really appreciate the help. Now i need to research that tech that makes it a lot faster. The phase lane distance is completely rediculous. Took one fleet like 30 minutes to get to another planet.

So how creating a Phase gate affect the TRADE INCOME?

From https://forums.stardock.com/175534

Basically, trade routes rates are based on the longest single direct route, including trips through wormholes and through other star systems. The game automatically calculates the longest route (without loopholes), then applies, it looks like, .1 credit/s per "planet" the route passes through (so this includes asteroid belts, wormholes and stars, etc, that are not even occupied by a controlled mineral processor, so long as it is not broken up by hostile or non-trade pact agreeing empires).

After this is calculated, every planet with a Trade port will have that figure, even planets that aren't on the path itself (and you can see that path by hovering your mouse cursor over the your Credit amount in the Resource bar (top right of the screen, in case someone didn't realize that)).

So, if you have a long trade route that covers 20 "planets" then your trade value is 2 credits/s. If you have 40 planets total, you have a total trade income of 80 credits/s, which, most likely, will actually exceed your tax income

By creating a shorter route via the Phase Gate, will the "longest single direct route" of the the trade income computation be affected? Will the setting up of Phase gate reduce Income?

Longest trade routes are still calculated by number of normal phase lane jumps. But, your trade ships will use phase gates on their own to cut down on travel time.

Do phase gates work between star systems?

I have noticed that the ships will not always use a newly built stabaliser for a little while. Not sure why this is. Something in the game isn't updating immediately to host the new shortest route....

Think it woudl be possible to mod them into something that would work cross solar systems?

I don't know. That would ROCK! Why don't we find out if anyone can do that?
