DeskScape New Version 2.00.052 Broken

Will not load

from Stardock Forums

Is anyone else having trouble with the latest update to DeskScapes?  I cannot get it to load.

No, I can see the DeskScape interface in the Personalize/Besktop Background menu. All of my DeskScapes are there but I can not use them. When I select the DeskScape that I want to use and click okay it just stays on the previous background. All other background setting are working, including Vista DreamScene.

Never mind it's working now. I logged off then back on. I'm playing an .avi music video. I wish it had a playlist.  :D

I just use DreamScene 1.0 (I have Ultimate :)), but I did try 2. Was disappointed when I saw you could only run 3 dreams, but is that changed now?

This week I just started running into a problem with DreamScene 2.00.052. When I click on a dream the background does not change. Whatever I currently have for my background remains the same. So, nothing happens. I uninstalled it and re-installed it but the same problem happens. Next, I uninstalled the 2.0 version and re-installed the 1.95 version. The 1.95 version works fine but this is the "Preview" version and it will not let me use my other dream files.

Here is what I am using:

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium - Service Pack 1
Graphics Card: nVidea GeForce 8600 GT

Does anyone have any ideas about this?

I have the exact same problem on two different Vista Ultimate systems (but it works fine on a third). The only way to fix it is to restore the previous archive. Dreams work perfectly again after that. The weird thing is that Stardock Central still shows the 2.00.052 version as the one installed...very weird.

The two machines it doesn't work on runnvidia graphics cards (desktops) while the one that is working runs an ATI display (laptop). All machines are updated to SP1+.

Similar problems here... I have vista ultimate SP1+ on two different systemas (a dualcore laptop with intel graphics chipset and a dual core desktop with an NVIDIA 8800 GTS card). Both present the same behaviour.

After selecting a Dream the exlporer.exe application crashes (specially with dynamic dreams), after that, I am not able to select any other dream... I can choose them, but it will not update the background.

I have uninstalled/installed Deskscapes on both systems several times but the problem comes back. Before v. 1.90 beta I did not experience any problem on both systems.

I have checked the event log at my system and found that when explorer crashes it registers the following error log:

the new v55 build has the same problem...on vista 32 and vista 64 with Nvidia 8xxx series cards.

If you have Vista Ultimate you can run any of the free dreams!  Just download DreamScene (a Windows Vista Ultimate Extra) and the 1.02 version of DeskScapes.

Since we are releaseing DeskScapes 2.0 tomorrow, please upgrade to the newest version.  Then follow-up with any support issues in this thread.
