Warrior super ability, who all of you use it out there, pls take a look.

Greets Gents

I been using the super ability warrior(the one where you always get to attack first)  And i'm thinking i'm not using it properly.

So all of you who use that ability, how do u set up your attack ships?

All Guns and engines

All guns

Or a mix between the three(basically what I'm doing now)

On my current ships, half of the space gts guns, then i put on a warp Drive IV and then fill up what's left with a certain type of defence.  I'm thinking, with that setup, I'm not using my ability to it's fullest.  Pls help  :)

Thanks Peeps

Build all-attack ships. No defense, and enough engine to get you about. Super Warrior relies on you being able to destroy your opponent with the *first shot*, so you need to make that shot as much of a sure thing as you can.

Just to clarify the Super Warrior ability, that ambush volley is ONLY in effect if you initiate the combat. If your ships get attacked, it's battle as usual.

And just to second Mistralok's post, get enough engines to move about and out maneuver your opponents and fill the rest with guns.

The only change to this will be when you play TA and getting a module on to amplify the first attack or amplify dmg w/in your influence range. But this is a DA forum, so we won't go too much more in-depth with that.

It also helps to get Eye of the Universe, the ability to swoop in and attack isn't much good if you can't see your target.

Thanx gents, i was watching the fleet battle viewer, and your right, i get the first shot. I don't know why i thought it was the other way around lol.

@Darquies; I want to make sure that you really understand this ability. Super Warrior doesn't give you the first shot. Any time that you, playing as any race, initiate combat, you get the first shot. Whoever you are attacking then gets the second shot. That is to say, that even if you attack with overwhelming force, and completely disintegrate your opponent, it will still get one 'parting shot'. A particle beam 'finger', if you will. This has the very real potential to cause damage. Enough of these, and you may be destroyed.

Super Warrior changes this. If you have this ability, and enough firepower to destroy your opponent with your first shot, then they will not be allowed to fire back. So...you can go merrily about the galaxy destroying ships and not suffer so much as a single scratch; provided, of course, that you can guarantee their destruction with your first shot. This is what Loupdinour was trying to tell you about the importance of initiating combat.

I hope this has cleared things up a bit. If I misunderstood, and you already knew this, I apologize. Just call me a wanker and I promise that I won't take offense. :)

I have used this recently and I find that the Super Warrior plays out pretty much as described but I have encountered what I believe to be a bug. When playing the Super Warrior option, I like to combine this ability with psionic beamms and the best engines I can. Things tend to go well when I'm attacking small enemy fleets; however, when attacking large stacks, the abilities seems to get inconsistent after the 7th or 8th attack on enemy fleets. On moment I'm on a rampage, next my defenseless monster attack fleet is gone. Given the high cost of psionic beam ships this blows when it happens. Having been burned at least twice like this, I have learn to cram at least a little armor on my predator fleets.

I dont think it was mentioned yet so I thought I would chime in. If you like or want to use Super Warrior, I would recommend adding Luck, and possibly even using the Universalist party for the Luck bonus, as well. It raises your minimum attack value each roll, basically preventing you from rolling a zero when you attack someone.
