Need help with the "Escape" mission in the Dread Lord Campaign

I am playing the Dread Lord campaign but is stuck with the "Escape" mission. In this mission you have to conquer at planet belonging to the Dread Lords. When you invade the planet you have an advantage of -21474 compared to 86 for the Dread Lords. Despite you sending 50000 soldiers to invade the planet against 20 you keep loosing.

How can I conquer the planet and get on with the mission?

I can't help ypu there. I beat it by just attacking early on. I don't know how to increase the advantage, but use mass drivers. You won't need the planet once you've conquored it.

Good Luck.  :CONGRAT:

Imo the dread lords campaign is broken on very low difficulty settings. The other friendly empires are immensely strong and pick up every spare planet before i can even sneeze. They roll over the enemy eventually.

On Beginner (that's me!) I did an intial colony rush, built up the economy etc., then fended off the occasional DL nasty. Then invaded the two Korash (?)planets closest. Then brought mass driver-equipped cruisers and about 10 or so missile boats. Took out the DL escort eventually. Then saved game, used mass drivers and 6 troop transports, and got a good throw.

I'm having the same problem.  Last night I first tried an early invasion (three waves of 2,000 each) when I saw the planet had no ships in orbit.  All wipe outs. I tried again later with a fleet containing 36,500M, soldiering at +80%, maxed logistics, Tir Quan training built, bombardment and tidal disruption researched, etc.  And a bunch of turns after that, tried it with 66,000M.

Both attempts were wipe outs.

Today I researched every single tech.  There was nothing left to research.  I'd decided their tech advantage was what was hurting me.  Waste of time, but I then loaded huge holds with 16 advanced troop mods each and fleeted 5 of them since that's all that'll fit (max logistics is at 58).  I added a 5 logistics 6,000M cargo hold carrier and a 3 logistics 2,000M small hull carrier to bring my total to 88,000M troops.

Wipe out.

I had saved, so I reloaded and tried every type of invasion; Normal, Mass Driver, Core Detonation, Tidal Disruption, Gas, and for the hell of it, Information.

 Wipe out.  Every time.

I've yet to kill one single DL soldier.

Hell, I even built, and maxed out, a military and an influence starbase on top of the planet just in case they might help.  They didn't.

In the previous scenarios, 2,000 - 4,000 troops using mass drivers, or even core detonation, would almost always win, so this is very odd.

Something that really bothers me is that the DLs show a negative Tech rating at the invasion screen, so I don't know if I'm missing something or if the scenario is just bugged.  DL tech rating is -272

Anyone have a clue for me?

Again, this is the final scenario, Escape, not the earlier ones.  This one is different.  I only say this because of the replies I saw in this thread, those guys who posted above were thinking of Achilles Heel or Apocalypse.

I'm playing at Challenging level, in case that matters.

The Campaign is bugged. Have the same issue (GALCIV2 Ultimate 2.02). A Thread in the Bug-Forum is already started.
