Welcome to the 7 DEADLY SINS mod, as featured in PC GAMER by DANMAN .

 

Welcome to 7 Deadly Sins 2.5 FINAL for the latest version of Sins Entrenchment 1.053.
7DS can only be played at HIGH maximum settings. DO NOT USE VERY HIGH settings. This will cause a minidump. Also, there is an issue with Win7 64 bit. You will get crashes, load errors, or the game will not even play, with or without warning. Just keep reloading the game and trying until you actually get into the game and play. This is a Windows problem, not a problem with Sins or 7DS.

The ultimate combo mod, the "unoffical" expansion of Sins of a Solar Empire, or so it has been dubbed by the mod community.

New classes of strikecraft squadrons and Capitalships/Dreadnoughts/Titans with fixed number of Squadrons
Cruiser Squads of 3 strikecraft
Capital Squadrons of 6 strikecraft; largely used by Hangars
Titan Wings of 9 strikecraft; also used by Starbases

 

Mobile Starbases -all races possess starbases that can move about the gravity well to interdict enemy forces -assault carefully.

 

12 Playable Races with their own traits that make them more unique, from being a total offensive race, to a highly researching race. Each race now has its own unique tactics of gameplay.

Trader Emergency Coalition- solely based on trade and swarming, with little military might
Corpo-Nations that have rebelled against the Trade Order. Their military might stripped, they have turned to allying themselves with various factions and hiring mercs for protection.
TEC has new Battlecruisers, mercenary contracts, and EMP shells that bypass shields to a small degree.
Trade Coalition Armada- the military arm of the Trade Order
Once the development arm of the Trade Order, they are now the last hope for the Trade Order and humanity. Their ships are bricks with extreme range railguns.

TCA has state of the art weapons on traditional capitalships plus the Dresden and Athena Dreadnought and Beta Kol Titan.
The Orion Unity- modified Orion and Advent Combine
Some Orion split with the Atlantian-Orion Combine to guide the Advent towards their ultimate evolutionary stage. TOU ships are stronger, faster and deadlier; They can even travel between worlds using the Phase Stabilizer technology of the Tempest Titan.
Ship research boosts weapon performance.

DARK FLEET- modified Vasari
The Dark Fleet is all that remains of the Vasari. Where the weak Exodus ran often and fought rarely, the Dark Fleet seeks total dominion through force of arms. Their 5 Titan ships roam looking for prey.
Play style is familiar with greater armor, firepower and destructive potential.

Imperial Armada- from Star Wars
Guided by a clone of General Thrawn, the wasteland armadas of the Imperial Armada can employ powerful Force Alchemical Technology and even unleash the power of the Executor Super Star Destroyer.
Can unlock Jedi and/or Sith Holocrons for performance boost to defenses or offenses respectively -and at the expense of the other.

Rogue Cadre- Playable, custom pirates
Rob, pilfer, and steal your way to greatness. The Rogue Cadre is a melting pot of human cultures, Advent refugees and what remains of the Vasari. They have gathered against the TCA, TOU, Atlantian-Orion Combine and TOC to free humanity from tyranny, mysticism and slavery.
Posess the Precursor Titan and The Machine -the latter capable of capturing capitalships

Arilou Vanguard- UFO race from the Star Control Games
Not being of this dimension, the Arilou do not rely on money and normal means of transport or construction. They simply spawn ships from their "motherships", and travel through Quasispace, which propels them at near instant speeds from planet to planet.

Ur-quan KohrAh Third Doctrinal Fleet- Death race from the Star Control games
Totally aggressive, the Korh-Ah are built for battle. They are all offense, and barely any defense. They focus on exterminating every race and every planet they find, and almost every ship is capable of boming from orbit. Their goal is to "cleanse" the universe of all other sentient life, anything that is not an Ur-Quan.

Ur-Quan KzerZa Third Doctrinal Fleet- Slaving race from the Star Control games
Unlike their Kor-Ah cousins, the Kzer-Za believe in a diplomatic approach, let alone old habits of enslaving entire races into their Hierarchy. They have grown from their 10,000 year old ways, and are more good than bad now.

Atlantian-Orion Combine- the ultimate race, the seeders of life (the gods)
The Combine are part of the original Creator Alliance and responsible for seeding galaxies with genetic data. The Orion are the protectors and defenders until the Atlantian vessels can be fielded. Their greatest strength is their technology, but the loss of labs remove bonuses gained from research.

Taalo Horde- Ancient Rock race, from the Star Control games
As if the universe itself groaned for a protector, the Taalo have awakened from a million year slumber only to find old allies -the Atlantians and Arilou stripping the galaxy of semi-sentient flo-metal. They are the ultimate enviromental defender with a naive sense of justice. They have incorporated alien technology into their asteroid bodies with great results.

Triad of Creation- Ancient Destroyers of Worlds, Galactic Enslavers
The Triad of Creation, the Dnyarri, Antaran and Lapis, seek to eradicate all life in the universe. They nearly destroyed the Atlantian-Orion Combine in the Ori galaxy by turning their creation -the Vasari- against them. They emerged from within the Rogue Cadre taking a sizeable portion of their population into slavery. Their fleets struck the Taalo and Dark Fleet with vessels designed for infiltration nearly crippling the two factions.

Oh ya. Danman please don't add any mods that change game play or if you do make it a separate version. I don't really like game play changes that much ie new resources, new changes to current units like changing cap ships to be over or under powered. Sorry for nagging like a **** but I love this mod and don't want it ruined (for me at least and some others who don't like this either.) :)

I am having a problem with this mod. I really want to play it but can't.

The game keeps crashing for me. Says something about having encountered a problem and had to exit. Game runs fine when i have the mod off. i am running on windows 64 bit, it also didn't mention what the problem was.

Oh yah oen more thing I forgot in the previous post. How is the purple star going? I loved that one too and hope to see it in 1.3.

well, i think i have the correct, if were still including it its not going be called a neutron star. i read something and told him, that neutron stars are most definatly not purple... i could be wrong but, i doubt it. (we talked alot about it on the mod's forums a while ago)

I just played a game for a couple hours: Sins 1.05. 7DS 1.2

The mod works for me.

However, as usual, I got a couple hours in and it dumped me. Different map this time. The one constant I've noticed is that it seems to happen during or right after queing up multiple upgrades (for example, I go to the bathroom, come back and spend all my res on numerous upgrades).

I was able to play on the latest version of sins though. I am running cista 64 bit on xp sp2 compatibility.

The dumps are really starting to make me sad though.

Missing \n in C:\Users\arakcheev\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\7 DEADLY SINS 1.2\.\String\English.str

This is a mostly harmless error message usually caused by forgetting to hit enter at the end of an archive file.
It is only here to verify that the buffer given to read the string is big enough to hold the string read from the file.
If there is no \n character then this particular bug can't be properly detected.

One more thing, I noticed that while playing Solar Sins, which is suppose to be just Sins Plus and your new stars, that while playing as the Advent I got the Destra Crusader by researching just 2 military structures instead of the required 5 and that the ship looked different from the original in game model. Just thought I let you know:)

DANMAN, are you going to make a patch with the SOGE beta in it because currently I am working on my own version of the mod that won't make it horribly unfair for whoever plays against the Empire. If you would like to add it to 7Deadly Sins, drop me a PM.

Thank you all for the kudos and congrats, I really appreciate it, and it is what drive me to keep working on this mod. I finally picked up a copy of PC Gamer myself, and saw the mod, and my name, right there. I was really humbled, and taken back. Talking about 15 minutes of fame! Hopefully, this will lead to bigger and better things. I would really like to do this for money some day, so maybe this writeup will help out.

As far as the problems, I hear you all and I am working on it. This kind of thing happens when coding, and when combining with other people's work. You can't eliminate all the problems when you don't know what they are until people play the game and test it out. I test all the mods heavily before I release them, but if I spend too much time gaming, then I can't do much modding. So I need help in the game testing department if anyone wants to volunteer. They would be able to play the latest versions of the mod before I release them to the general public, so there are some perks.

As far as taking out the stars, I will provide a patch that gets rid of them as a separate download.

As far as the new STAR WARS mod, if EvilJedi and his team give me permission, it would be an honor to merge that mod, as it was always my intention to do so, along with Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Star Gate, Halo, Wing Commander, and others.
Thid can only be done with permission however, I will not merge any mods whose creator doesn't want a merge with 7 DEADLY SINS. Also, these mods must be stable enough to merge with, or they cannot go in.

On the purple star, it is going along nicely, but I don't think it will be in 1.3 at the moment, but may come in later.
I am trying to get things wrapped up and out this weekend, so anything new or not further along will have to wait until 1.4

This may have already been asked, though I can't find a reference in this thread or other from scanning through the replies. Anyway, will any of these mods interfere with Max Tael's texture pack? I had seen something mentioned that those textures may be included with the Sins Plus mod, but wasn't sure. Just got my PC Gamer and read through it and they were mentioned, but the article didn't bother to say whether the mods would cause conflict with one another.

Oh ya i found an what might be an error, I don't know. When I use this mod and there are gas giants with the new textures (neptune uranus ones) if I zoom out to see a mini picture of the planet it shows a picture of the jupiter style gas giant instead of one like the uranus and neptune textures.

No sweat. I had to go back and re-read it three times to make sure I read it right.

I shot him a PM just now in case he misses the post. Anything I can do to help this keep getting better and better.


So the crashing has become completely random for me now. I loaded a save game and dumped in 5 minutes... reloaded the game and haven't dumped yet...

I had logging on but nothing recorded for the 10 minute dump.
