Welcome to 7 Deadly Sins 2.5 FINAL for the latest version of Sins Entrenchment 1.053.
7DS can only be played at HIGH maximum settings. DO NOT USE VERY HIGH settings. This will cause a minidump. Also, there is an issue with Win7 64 bit. You will get crashes, load errors, or the game will not even play, with or without warning. Just keep reloading the game and trying until you actually get into the game and play. This is a Windows problem, not a problem with Sins or 7DS.

The ultimate combo mod, the "unoffical" expansion of Sins of a Solar Empire, or so it has been dubbed by the mod community.

So, now I know what you want...a list of what YOU, the player, is actaully getting with this mod. Well, here is a non-inclusive list:

Cruiser Squads of 3 strikecraft

Mobile Starbases -all races possess starbases that can move about the gravity well to interdict enemy forces -assault carefully.

 

12 Playable Races with their own traits that make them more unique, from being a total offensive race, to a highly researching race. Each race now has its own unique tactics of gameplay.

Trader Emergency Coalition- solely based on trade and swarming, with little military might
Corpo-Nations that have rebelled against the Trade Order. Their military might stripped, they have turned to allying themselves with various factions and hiring mercs for protection.
TEC has new Battlecruisers, mercenary contracts, and EMP shells that bypass shields to a small degree.
Trade Coalition Armada- the military arm of the Trade Order
Once the development arm of the Trade Order, they are now the last hope for the Trade Order and humanity. Their ships are bricks with extreme range railguns.

TCA has state of the art weapons on traditional capitalships plus the Dresden and Athena Dreadnought and Beta Kol Titan.
The Orion Unity- modified Orion and Advent Combine
Some Orion split with the Atlantian-Orion Combine to guide the Advent towards their ultimate evolutionary stage. TOU ships are stronger, faster and deadlier; They can even travel between worlds using the Phase Stabilizer technology of the Tempest Titan.
Ship research boosts weapon performance.

DARK FLEET- modified Vasari
The Dark Fleet is all that remains of the Vasari. Where the weak Exodus ran often and fought rarely, the Dark Fleet seeks total dominion through force of arms. Their 5 Titan ships roam looking for prey.
Play style is familiar with greater armor, firepower and destructive potential.

Imperial Armada- from Star Wars
Guided by a clone of General Thrawn, the wasteland armadas of the Imperial Armada can employ powerful Force Alchemical Technology and even unleash the power of the Executor Super Star Destroyer.
Can unlock Jedi and/or Sith Holocrons for performance boost to defenses or offenses respectively -and at the expense of the other.

Rogue Cadre- Playable, custom pirates
Rob, pilfer, and steal your way to greatness. The Rogue Cadre is a melting pot of human cultures, Advent refugees and what remains of the Vasari. They have gathered against the TCA, TOU, Atlantian-Orion Combine and TOC to free humanity from tyranny, mysticism and slavery.
Posess the Precursor Titan and The Machine -the latter capable of capturing capitalships

Arilou Vanguard- UFO race from the Star Control Games
Not being of this dimension, the Arilou do not rely on money and normal means of transport or construction. They simply spawn ships from their "motherships", and travel through Quasispace, which propels them at near instant speeds from planet to planet.

Ur-quan KohrAh Third Doctrinal Fleet- Death race from the Star Control games
Totally aggressive, the Korh-Ah are built for battle. They are all offense, and barely any defense. They focus on exterminating every race and every planet they find, and almost every ship is capable of boming from orbit. Their goal is to "cleanse" the universe of all other sentient life, anything that is not an Ur-Quan.

Ur-Quan KzerZa Third Doctrinal Fleet- Slaving race from the Star Control games
Unlike their Kor-Ah cousins, the Kzer-Za believe in a diplomatic approach, let alone old habits of enslaving entire races into their Hierarchy. They have grown from their 10,000 year old ways, and are more good than bad now.

Atlantian-Orion Combine- the ultimate race, the seeders of life (the gods)
The Combine are part of the original Creator Alliance and responsible for seeding galaxies with genetic data. The Orion are the protectors and defenders until the Atlantian vessels can be fielded. Their greatest strength is their technology, but the loss of labs remove bonuses gained from research.

Taalo Horde- Ancient Rock race, from the Star Control games
As if the universe itself groaned for a protector, the Taalo have awakened from a million year slumber only to find old allies -the Atlantians and Arilou stripping the galaxy of semi-sentient flo-metal. They are the ultimate enviromental defender with a naive sense of justice. They have incorporated alien technology into their asteroid bodies with great results.

Triad of Creation- Ancient Destroyers of Worlds, Galactic Enslavers
The Triad of Creation, the Dnyarri, Antaran and Lapis, seek to eradicate all life in the universe. They nearly destroyed the Atlantian-Orion Combine in the Ori galaxy by turning their creation -the Vasari- against them. They emerged from within the Rogue Cadre taking a sizeable portion of their population into slavery. Their fleets struck the Taalo and Dark Fleet with vessels designed for infiltration nearly crippling the two factions.

Ps. Was there a patch that fixed the nova cannon? So far all it destroys is my pc :P

Yeah there was an "internal" update that fixed the cannon, and some other things.  I haven't had a chance yet to get the updated version uploaded yet.  The next update to the TCA beta will have this issue fixed!

I will try and get the more current version uploaded this week.

Okay so I packaged up the latest rendition of the TCA beta and sent it over to Dan to upload to the server.  It will be available for download once he gets around to uploading it, probably in the next couple of days.

One of the more important fixes included is the Nova cannon. It shouldn't break the game any longer.

Additionally, some abilities were fixed, the Athena may have been bugged, it should be fixed now.

 

However; I probably broke the TEC in the process because I was about mid-way through bringing over the 7DS content in there for that race....Eventually, the TEC and TCA will be on the same race screen so Don't be suprised if you start seeing errors on the TEC side of things!

More to come in the near future!

Hey guys,

Just curious, what does the nova cannon actually do? I have really only played sins  since rebellion released. So l have not seen it thanks :)

The Nova cannon is basicaly a giant gun for shooting planets across the system.
Does heaps of damage to a planet (even kill it depending on planet health etc.)

the 7DS version tends to be a little more powerful than the default I belive... though I havent really looked at the numbers... I'm an Empire supporter myself.

Well, the Novalith blows the planet up... after a couple shots.  The Nova does the same, but also blows up everything in orbit, often with only that single shot, including quite possibly your own or allied vessels, so be careful.  We may need to do a possible "No Superweapons" addon or something since all our superweapons were created back in the days of Entrenchment and its useless AI, and nobody wants to face the Atlantian God Machine 15 minutes in after a Cruel or Vicious AI cheated its way up the research tree.

Guys, 

 

Going adventuring.  Makon has "2.5 Final "G" for Entrenchment" in my dropbox to retrieve before I log off everywhere for good.  Release of "G" is up to Dan/Makon.  It might get into Rebellion, might not.

TCA for Entrenchment -we went a little crazy on them with hull regen that blew away every race, weapons that couldn't be beat and massive armor levels from research and passive plating... then the Kol Beta flo-metal passive ability that ate points if you screwed up + no clear "Short" and "Long" division among the ships.

Railguns: 15k: research gives 100% bonus to damage and 40% shield ignore

centerline research improves ROF and Range 90%

Gauss Weapons: 5k: research gives 100% bonus to damage and 40% shield ignore

*interesting penalties for some of the ballistic research like a penalty to shield hp and antimatter capacity

Missiles: 15k

Beams: 7500 and high damage or 15k and low damage

 

Ideal Fast & Short Range: Gauss/HighIntensityBeam: Kol Beta, Eisenhower, Patton, Montgomery, MacArthur

Ideal Slow Snipe Fleet: Railguns/Missiles/LowIntensityBeam: everything else... and majority of logistics.

 

One thing this does is nerfs TCA down a bit so they don't rip the other races to bits.  They are more like the Dark Fleet and TOU than ATL/TOC and Empire.  Hope that bit was noticed in player order... ATL/TOC/Empire -good matches.  TOU/Dark/TCA -good matches.  Arilou/KohrAh/KzerZa -also good.  Rogue is hard mode and TEC is insane mode... but 2 L10 Vulcan BattleCarriers can really rip a L10 Kol Beta if you can keep it's DD disables via manifestos.

 

one thing I thought of and didn't do was double all railgun damage and rof so range fleet can't handle short rangers getting in on them... could've, but didn't.

While humans are kick ass, the TCA is designed more to be a "badass" race, that isn't overly difficult to play, but requires more thought than just mindlessly upgrading tech and absolutely tearing apart everyone else.

Even in entrenchment, the Empire and Atlantian ships still out-dps their TCA "equivalents" at maximum tech level, and are physically faster / more nimble (i.e. they can run away if they want).  They were designed to be "almost as good" as the top tier races, but would require a fairly diverse fleet and thoughtful strategy to defeat them... Granted, an AI is fairly predictable, and a human TCA player can destroy any AI faction....But can the same be said for a human atlantian player or a human TOC, or empire player?  Probably not.

 

Regardless, there are many changes coming to the TCA in rebellion, after the remaining races get converted, that will make playing them very interesting.

7DS 3.0 (Rebellion) Update:

These races will likely not be released as "Betas" like the TCA was, but will indeed be in a more complete alpha/beta release of the mod.

 

So everyone knows that I and others are still working on it,  The Atlantians and the TOU (The Orion Unity) are now converted and playable in Rebellion.  There is still remaining work left to make them as they were in Entrenchment, but the bulk of that is done!

 

I will post additional updates on progress when they happen!

The patch isn't out yet, and no, we most likely won't be too badly affected aside from having to update all of our artifact bonuses to match the new ones since it appears most of it is balance changes.

As spardason said, it is mostly balance changes, and alterations to artifacts that we haven't yet implemented...So at this point I don't think it will, but we shall see.

Finally tried 7DS this weekend, since I saw there was a Rebellion release. It's very nice! The one side that's in the Rebellion version so far is great for when I'm in a turtling mood. :P

 

I'm really looking forward to trying the rest of the factions in future Rebellion releases!

 

A couple issues I've noticed so far (apologies if they've been pointed out, already):

 

1) The links to the Entrenchment files in the Free Download section of the site do not work, they result in FnF errors on the host site.

 

2) The Athena's (I think that's the name - the souped-up colony cap) Defense Grid ability results in a crash as soon as a point is put into it. I did it 3 times to make sure that's what it was, happens instantly each time.

 

3) The Kol Beta (again, I think that's the name - the most expensive cap) requires level 11 to purchase the final level of some of its abilities, it ends up not being able to max them out and can't spend all the points it DOES get once it's max level.

 

4) The Titan Foundry can not be built even after researching Ragnarov Prototype I.

 

5) When the research window is open, some extra blank research trees can be seen in the top-right of the screen (overlapping the bounty UI). Don't know if this is resolution dependent, I was in 1650x1080.
