Vista Ready - What does it really mean?
I have 2 PCs, one XP and one Vista. I've been trying to find a skin that looks nearly the same on both. I've downloaded every "Vista Ready" skin that there is. What I've found is that most of them are almost anything but Vista ready. The start menu seems to be a particular area that has problems. User pics that don't fit in the frame the skin has for them, imitation search boxes and logon/logoff buttons that don't fit the dimensions of the real thing, tops of skins that cut off at the wrong point, and frequently used program panels that don't line up at the top of the start panel are just some of the errors I've found. Is there a problem with my particular layout or screen resolution, or are skinners really being that sloppy when making skins for Vista? Does "Vista Ready" just mean that the skin will load on Vista, or is it supposed to mean that the skin will look good on Vista? If the former, then it seems to me to be a rather useless designation; if the later, then whoever is checking these skins for Vista readiness needs to do a better job.
