A Sunny and Sandy New Mexico Road Trip

Chris and I just came back from a road trip to southern N.M.  Among the places we visited were the lovely Mountains of Ruidoso (where we window shopped, took pics, and gambled just a teeny tiny bit) and the stunning White Sands near Alamogordo, NM (where we had fun in the sand and sun).

It was a lovely trip...and such a cool way to spend some of my Spring Break.  Also, we couldn't have asked for better weather . :)

These are some pics We took. Here is one:

Here are the rest

(I tried embedding the slideshow on here from slide.com, but for some reason it's not working...sigh):

I love New Mexico.  I lived there for two years from 2003 to 2005.  I miss it, sometimes.  I loved the slide show and I'm glad you all had fun!  :CONGRAT:

Which area of NM did you live, Sancho?

It had been quite a while since we were able to go on a trip, so it was pretty nice for us. :)

It was where I served as a missionary. I lived 7 1/2 months in Albuquerque, 4 1/2 months in Farmington (way up North), 4 1/2 months in Los Lunas (just south of AB) and the last 7 1/2 months in Santa Fe, possibly my favorite city in the US.

I'd love to go back. :D

Btw, hope you put up pics of all the pretty things in Spain...and I don't just mean the girls...lol. ;)

Rose,

New Mexico is beautiful.  Sounds like you both had a nice time too.  Thanks for sharing your photos.  I'm particularly taken by the white sands.

Flagstaff has always been my favorite part of the state. It is one of the most beautiful ones tho, all over!

I have not been there in many years. But maybe soon, my wife and I will take a car trip through the state.

Thanks for sharing.

These are beautiful pictures Rose. The sand ones almost look like snow.

It looks like a great place to visit. I haven't been to that part of the country.

I think the Sands were my favorite part of the trip. :)  We plan to go there again to have a little picnic (there's an area there set up for that).  There were sooo many families out there, and the kids were having so much fun sliding down the sands on their disks.

If you come to our parts, maybe we can take you and your wife there. :)

It's pretty wonderful. We took this pic while we were driving through the White Sands park:

It is pretty cool that it looks like snow.  It's made up of gypsum, actually.

I had a cousin that used to work at the White Sands missle range. Is it still there? I hadn't thought of it in ages. Anyway, other than going to Carlsbad caverns once and to Ruidosa as a child I haven't been many times to New Mexico.

Oh! Wait! I DID go snow skiing (or what was supposed to be snow skiing, lol) once with a bunch of friends at Red River once. Boy, what a trip that was! But it was fun anyway!  ;p

(cool pics, too BTW!)

Maybe you'll write a story about Red River one day, Roy. ;)
