I can't give a specific order. To do so would be blasphemous. ;)

Blackwater Park by Opeth

Hemispheres by Rush

And All That Could Have Been by Nine Inch Nails

Water Night by Eric Whitacre

Given to the Rising by Neurosis

Proud to Drown by Made Out of Babies

Happy Hippo by Could Cult

Lost in Moments by Ulver

A Pleasant Shade of Gray by Fates Warning (technically, it's the whole album, but it's one song, so it counts as one. ;))

Stay Evil by Mountain Mirrors.

Keep in mind that this list changes on an almost daily basis, and those are just my ten favorites for the next half an hour. It might very well change again before bed. :D

Nice selection Mumble. That's more my kind of music. ;)

I just noticed that I didn't include anything by the Beatles... But narrowing it down to only ten 'best' songs I honestly have to admit that while I like their music, I don't listen to it nearly as much as they probably deserve. Got the White Album, though. ;)

I guess mine will be the first 10 that pop into my mind. I don't have my MP3 player here at work.

If It Makes You Happy - Sheryl Crow

Spiderwebs - No Doubt

Who Will You Run To - Heart

Tom Sawyer - Rush

Chain Lightning - 38 Special

China in Your Hand - T'Pau

The World I Know - Collective Soul

Love Is a Battlefield - Pat Benatar

Yeah it's tough to cover everyone that you would like to. There's a ton of great David Bowie although I would have gone with Ashes to Ashes or Rebel Rebel. I had to leave off The Cure, Prince, Led Zeppelin and I would have gone with Radar Love from Deep Purple, the more obscure 2000 Light Years From Home from the Stones and the less obscure Don't Fear the Reaper from BOC. And having to leave off Elvis Costello, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Doors, Janis Joplin, Roy Orbison and that doesn't begin to get into Nirvana, STP, Pearl Jam and the father of grunge Neil Young. And then to think I grew up in Detroit during the 60's and to not have listed a single motown hit. Oh and what about Toad the Wet Sprocket, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Tool. And that doesn't even get us into the most recent decade.

It just never ends, I could list 500 songs that I consider truly "great".

In no particular order.

The Pot - Tool
Hard Sun - Indeo (not the Eddie Veder cover)
Ramble On - Led Zepplin
Chelsea Dagger - The Fratellis
New Orleans is Sinking - The Tragically Hip
Got You On My Mind - Powderfinger
Everlong - Foo Fighters
Radiohead - Creep
House of Wolves - My Chemical Romance
Burden in my Hand - Soundgarden

But I'm with you Mumble. Way to many left off my list as well.

Oh, BTW, Radar Love is by Golden Earring, unless Deep Purple did a cover I don't know about.

Oh, BTW, Radar Love is by Golden Earring, unless Deep Purple did a cover I don't know about.

Actually, I've played the song for years, been in various "gargage bands" on and off since I was 14, and I always thought that Radar Love was by Deep Purple but after checking I see that you're right. I could find no cover of it by Deep Purple and it was Golden Earring that originally did the song.

Perhaps the fact that Radar Love always seemed to follow Smoke on the Water on our playlist made me think it was a Deep Purple tune. Learn something new every day.

6) The Human Touch: by someone whose name escapes me.

7) Born In The USA (Bruce Springsteen)

5) Mr. Roboto: (Who wrote that, anyway)

Wrote or performed? I know Styx performed it and assume they also wrote it.

9) Sweet Dreams (are made of this): Have only heard it on the radio, didn't catch the band's name.

The original is done by The Eurythmics around about 84 I'd say. Marilyn Manson redid it around 94.

How about a new list. Songs you hate from artists you love.

One of my favourite albums is Synchronicity by the Police but it has one awful song, "Mother"!
