The Political Machine 2008 announced

Stardock's new strategy game is coming soon...

Stardock is pleased to announce The Political Machine 2008. Developed by the same team (literally) that made Galactic Civilizations II, The Political Machine 2008 puts the player in the role of campaign manager for a Presidential Candidate.

Players choose a candidate they want to run for President or can design their own from scratch. They then pick a scenario (current day USA, future world, Civil War USA, Drengi, or other scenarios) and then begin their quest to be elected President.

Candidates have many tools at their disposal including smear merchants, spin doctors, intimidators, and more all while attempting to raise money, appear on TV, take out advertisements, and more.

The candidate creation system allows players to design how their candidates look completely. For added realism, all candidates are bobble-heads.

Players can pre-order can join the upcoming public beta. The final game will be $19.95 and available at most retail outlets.

Unless you guys are going to get into fist fights for my amusement, take your political debate to politicalmachine.com's democratic or republican forums. Let's stay on topic.

Sorry Frogboy. Didn't see that. You're right. I've already posted a little over at politicalmachine.com.

The Political Machine 2008 looks great! I'm buying it. I especially love the idea of different eras.

p.s. Feel free to delete my off-topic replies. Apologies.

Is there any indication as to the anticipated minimum system requirements to run the game? It sounds really interesting and I would love to buy it but I need to know if it will run on my old pc at home. Is being able to run SoaSE good enough for the game?

Any chance of a demo coming out to play?

At $19.95, not much need for a demo. It's not like it's a $50 investment.

Also, it's from StarDock. You know it will be a good game if it's from StarDock.

It's interesting how they have Hillary and McCain in center front of the box cover. I like it! (I'm not an Obama fan)

meh doesn't really matter about the placement of the candidates they are all on the box.
We all know you hate Obama, for lols check out:

So I take it you want play as Obama then, not even once?

Meh, not really my forte in a game, but I might get it anyway to support stardock. I just have one question... Can you make up your own crazy parties?! I think it would be cool to have the ultimate extremists balanced into green party rhetoric and a hint of idealism. Lots of screwy stuff happening on the campaign trail! Just be sure to advertise this among the real politicians so that they might learn a thing or two!

I'm sure the min system requirements will be sub-SoaSE..if you can play Sins, but not PM2008, we've done something horribly wrong :)

As for a demo, we'll probably release one shortly after the official game is shipped.

Hi, Frogboy. I was disappointed to see a HUGE ADVERTISEMENT FOR A DIFFERENT GAME FROM A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GENRE on the Sins home page under "Sins News".

That's not Sins news, and it's not even Ironclad news. That's STARDOCK news. Maybe posting a brief link to a different page under Stardock's web area that talks about that game would have been a little more appropriate than dominating the Sins dedicated webpage with a huge announcement that is effectively completely off-topic? New purchasers coming to the Sins page might get the wrong idea, and frankly, it gives the appearance that Ironclad might not control their own agenda.

Cheers.

I am very happy they informed us about the game.

Kruelgor, I'll refrain from responding to your childish rudeness and just look at the facts of your post. Your response doesn't really address any of my points, and concentrates too much on what YOU think rather than what other people might think. If you'd actually understood my post, you'd see that I don't mind learning about what StarDock is up to at all - but I think the news was provided using the wrong method.

There's plenty of relative information on the website. Why do you care so much? Why do you CARE if they promote another game? Why? Why? Why do you care?

If they can make a few thousand more sales by promoting it here then I think it was a great idea. What's the big deal?

Here's how I see it. The more money they rack in then the more games and support they can provide us with in the future. Get it?

Only a treasonous military person would look down upon a civilian.

A true American military person would hold the civilians right to freedom of speech in the highest regard, since that is one of the things they are fighting for.

Civilians have just as much a right to their opinions as do military people. Civilians serve their country in other ways by working and paying taxes which pays for the military. In fact, the military would not exist at all if not for the civilian tax contributions. Both should be grateful to each other.

Also, there are millions of people who have served in the military so it is no great accomplishment to have served. Considering most people join the military to escape poverty or to get a free college education, it's really nothing to brag about. Most people join the military and pray they are never called to war. This explains the low rate of new recruits and reenlistments during the past 5 years.

The Romans had the right idea. All enlistees will be professional soldiers with a mandatory 20 years of service. Now, THAT is honorable. America has far too many leechers who initially joined the military for their own selfish reasons. Not to serve their country.

This is not to say all people who join the military fit into this category. There are a few truly patriotic people who join the military because they truly want to serve and to protect their nation. The government has always been aware there are few truly patriotic citizens and that is why they implement the Draft when necessary.

A) The person I quoted said they had been in the military. I wanted to know What their MOS was. How is that looking down on them
B) Your right they do. However they hae no right to talk about what "In their Opinon" War is like. I hate that. Unless you have been underfire and fought please refrain from talking about it.
C)I am very proud of what I have done, how dare you try to say that it is no accomplishment? Have you been through USMC boot camp? Through School of Infantry? Through IRAQ?
D)I joined to defend the U.S. and Hoped I went to war. I want to go back and I am waiting for a redeployment. How can you be in the military and not want to go to combat?
You should really watch what you say. This is the internet and it is really easy to hid behind our Avatars and Screen Names. How ever a little respect would be great, even from time to time. Or have we lost that as well?
