What are the common maps in multiplayer?

I'm sure all n00bs would like to know what is the de_dust2 map for SoSE.  Basically, what is the standard map?  That way we can practice against Hard AI and get used to the maps, etc...

common ones for me to play are malestrom (particularly 3v3), fulcrum and grindstone. other than that it's random of various sizes

And how long do these maps generally take to play a game? Same as VS AI?

most games last 2-3 hrs to get a clear winner (meaning you don't have to wipe each other out) the longest ones i've played are the uber huge the 1v1 with a balanced opponent. 1v1 was about 5 hours. i lost the uber huge but it was long enough for me not to get involved again ;)

How is someone who doesn't have a 4 hour open time slot able to play this game online? I would like to try a multiplayer game but I can't guarantee I'd be able to stick around forever.

Four hours is excessive. 1v1s on small maps last about half an hour to 45 minutes, and even games with six people don't usually take much more than two hours.

Lot's of people don't have that much time to spend, but if you're playing with a group you know then you can always arrange to save-game and come back to it another day.

I normally get owned very quickly though hehe

It depends on the skill of those involved, of course.

That said, there is no standard map for this game. Just a very wide selection of maps to choose from.
