Show off your Impulse skin!

Show off your Impulse skin!

Take that, green!

Yes....that's right. Who thought it would be sooo easy to skin.

It's as simple as replacing the images in Program Files/Stardock/Impulse/Skins/Images* (3 folders) and editing font colors in the skin.xml. So easy even *I* could do it!

TIP: When Impulse updates, it WILL overwrite all the original images that you changed. Take a tip from Snowy and rename all your modified images (I just added [s] to the end to know they're mine) and then update the changed image names in the skin.xml and save a copy somewhere, so when Impulse updates, all you need to do is replace the skin.xml. I just tested it and worked great. (Impulse updated and it was green again, gah!)

So let's see your skinned Impulse. ;)

Mine (just some basic recoloring and changed the back.jpg):

It's so purdy....

It shouldn't be, all you need to do is replace the back.jpg, and recoloring the current images is about as easy as it gets (ctrl + u in Photoshop).

here's mine. i'm digging vlad's newest walls. i'd change the green text in the control panel header if i knew where that setting is :)

Pas, it's in the skin.xml in the main Skin folder. Should be in the contentheader area stuff, just look for the font color="blahblah" I can't remember the exact number to replace.

Has anyone checked to see if any of the other new releases can be skinned the same way?

Yep, I've just been replacing the skin.xml file with my own (with edited image names like I mentioned in the original post).

thanks, bebi. i've changed things a bit. that green surely didn't match the res tof my blue and black rendition. the hues of blue instead of the green look much better.
