Fahrenheit 9/11 on DVD

Remembering Fahrenheit 9/11

I pre-ordered Fahrenheit 9/11 almost immediately after I saw it. It left such a great impact in the way I view Iraq and our American culture. The part of the movie I remember most was the scene where Iraqis were being mutilated by bombs and the carnage of war. It angered me since it confirmed my belief that the Iraqi people are not really taken into account in the media. We get these polls coming out of Iraq that say this and that, but I think there is more to Iraq than polling. Michael Moore brought an aspect of the Iraqi experience that is not mentioned so much in the mainstream media.

He also gave voice to communities of color where high school students are heavily recruited to join the military, but not college. I remember hearing one stat for Garfield High School, in East L.A., that a student gets recruited by 8 military recruiters and one high school counselor. Tuition in Cali went up 40% in the University system and college recruiters don't really contact the students that much in Garfield. Many parents have told me that it's like the government is saying they can die for this country, but can't go to college. Moore does an excellent job of showing this in his movie with the two recruiters telling a young black male that he can be musician like Shaggy, who was a marine. His monologue at the end summed up what I thought about this issue. That part alone made me agree with Quentin Tarantino that it was the first movie made that deserved a standing ovation.

I'm curious to know what others fans of the movie think about it. As you can see, I'm a Michael Moore fan and I have been since his special on TV Nation as to why he thought O.J. was innocent. =)

There were *zero* minorites in my high school, and we got scoured by recruiters. I was approached by every branch of the military, and almost accepted navy nuke school. The whole "minorities" thing is hogwash. They just know that kids who are less apt to go to college are more apt to join the military. They do these studies in inner city high schools, and ignore white, rural high schools because it doesn't serve their agenda,,,

Before you believe Moores propoganda, you might want to check Farenhype 09/11. While Farenheit 09/11 is visually stunning, even Moore himself has admitted that this film was NOT a documentary, but his own assembled collage of edited material. In other words, it's PROPOGANDA.

Get the facts before you believe this tripe.
