The VP debates; Who won?

Now that the debates are over it looks as if both candidates came off very well. Pretty much a tie. Cheney came off as way more intelligent than Bush. Edwards was more clear and charismatic than Kerry. Cheney came off as more knowledgable and intelligent however not as clearly spoken as Edwards in his monotone voice. Otherwise I believe Cheney was the winner.

It seems as if Cheney took the Kerry route from the 1st debate, describing more than just using sound bytes and Edwards took the Bush route however he was more descriptive and well off than Bush. It was quite tense on Iraq which was really cool.

THIS IS WHAT A DEBATE SHOULD BE LIKE!

Not too clearly though. To be fair, this was Edwards' first debate. However, Edwards appealed more to the common man and could be well understood. Cheney however did very well in holding his own and dishing out the offense while he was at it.

Cheney soundly defeated Edwards, and Edward's first debate is bull, after all he did debate when they had all the Democrats debate during the Democratic Primary (or does that not count).

Cheney just took everything Edwards had debunked it and kept hammering it on, if Cheney was running for President I would vote for him, alas he does have a poor heart.

I would call it a tie. As I've indicated in other discussions, both were so on message that the debate was boring. Cheney had no Bush-like meltdown. I will predict that this will not change the basic momentum of the race; which means that we're stuck wating until Friday to see any new developments.

I think both sides played well to their bases and I don't think many swing voters will be moved by this debate. It was pretty much a draw as both candidates made the points they had to make. Cheney - we have experience and need to stay the course, Edwards - we are on the wrong track and need to get a fresh start.

Face it, Edwards got his ass kicked. When he can't answer a question why he could fill Kerry's shoes if something should happen without breaking the rules twice, trembling AND a fit of blinking (am I the only one freaked out by Edwards non stop blinking towards the end of this?) then he doesn't deserve credit for 'a tie'.

Cheney was to the point, brought up some incredible points and made Edwards look like a joke.

I totally disagree. I think Cheney showed tonight that he's completely out of touch with the real day to day concerns of the country: healthcare, jobs and education. Neither he nor Bush have a leg to stand on when it comes to these issues and it really showed tonight. Cheney could do nothing but continually stretch the truth as he always does, particularly when he talked about Iraq.

There was no ass kicking. Nothing that really decided the debate or overall election. Edwards held up well despite losing against this seasoned veteran.
