Help me understand please

Ok I have checked the Metaverse Q&A type post but they don't answer a simple question that I have.

What excatly is Metaverse? Now I now how to access it from my game and all but if GAL2 is not a multi-player game then how do you compete with one another as I seen talked about on the forums.

Now I been playing GAL2 gold ed. since November and I'm now playing the beta of the new expansion (which is awsome by the way) and I have been tempted to going into the metaverse.

However if your not acutully playing another person in the game and your just comparing point from your single player games then what is the point?

Help me understand Obi-wan Kanobi your my only hope :)

It's a scoreboard that uses a weighted average of your submitted games. Use the Metaverse button from the main game menu. The game will start like normal after a panel that prompts for your user ID and password. When the game ends, you'll be provided the opportunity to submit it.

The game does not have multi-player. There's a sticky thread at the top that explains why. It's entitled "Galactic Civilizations: The case for no multiplayer". The only official way to compete with others is through the Metaverse. As far as the point, well, it's the only official way to compete.
