unit colour

This may sound like a REALLY dumb question, but (in Single Player) are you units always that ugly green colour?

I've tried to change it several times, but all that changes is the icon.

I don;t have any mods installed and i haven't changed any of the "codes"

Yes it's dumb, you're stupid as hell! ;-)
Na seriously i had no idea what the problem was too until i found in the interface settings the topic "Team colours"(or something like that). Remove the check form the box, done!
But i think you can select a new colour only in a new game.
