SYN flood warning

Just to note that i was playing with my router earlier to get hosting working. failed, and played solo instead. just started to surf the web and found it really sluggish, checked my router and found in the log: **SYN Flood to Host** checked wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SYN_flood it's says it's a DoS attack. i locked of my port forwarding (port 6112) and all's good again. don't know much about this stuff, but my paranoid brain's saying someones found a weak link somewhere. any suggestions?
