If You Fall...
If you fall, I’ll catch you.
You know that, right? I won’t abandon you. I’m your friend, a real friend.
A lot of people are shallow these days. They’ll run off at the first sign of trouble or even a minor disagreement. Maybe even if you believe a little differently…even just a little, then they’ll up and leave you.
Maybe something got too “real” for them. Instead of superficial chat and hanging out, maybe you needed them and then they were gone. So much for a shoulder to cry on, huh?
It really is a sad state of affairs that people have become so absorbed in themselves that they’ll turn on their own friends or leave them on a whim for their own benefit. I ask, “How could one do that without a guilty conscience?
How would you live with yourself if you leave someone in need, someone who trusted you and…yes, even loved you?
Then again, maybe it wasn’t a direct decision. Was it someone else who pulled them away with force, lies, or promises of something better? Are people that weak willed? Probably, and that is a shame. Friendship is a thing to be shared, cherished, and respected. However, I’ve seen it break several times over stupid things, avoidable things, petty things…
I’m here to say that I will not follow that path. I have never turned my back on anyone who genuinely wanted to be my friend and I never will.
I’ll be there for you if you need someone to talk to, and I’ll offer my shoulder, my embrace, my words, anything to comfort you. I cannot stand by and let you suffer…that’s not what a friend does.
If you fall, I will catch you.
