Democrats Have Mental Health Issues?

It would explain a lot

I read this report this morning and found it funny, but intriguing at the same time.

"Republicans are significantly more likely than Democrats or independents to rate their mental health as excellent, according to data from the last four November Gallup Health and Healthcare polls. Fifty-eight percent of Republicans report having excellent mental health, compared to 43% of independents and 38% of Democrats."

I saw an analysis of this from Dr. Lyle H. Rossiter, Jr, who is a psychiatrist and author of a book which claims liberalism is a mental illness.

Reading a bit more into this he makes some excellent and correct points about liberalism which include:

  • creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization
  • satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation
  • augmenting primitive feelings of envy
  • rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government

Those points are spot on with modern liberals.

There was a full-page article in our local rag (customarily very liberal) just a week or 2 ago on the similar subject of happiness - Republicans are far and away more likely to report themselves to be happy than Democrats, same when comparing Conservatives to Liberals. This cuts across all socio-economic & ethnic groups as well. The author, who admits his liberal leanings, encountered some interesting responses when he discussed these findings with some of his liberal friends, these being two examples:

"They just don't get it."
"If they had a clue, they wouldn't be so damn happy."

Well if you think about, liberals do tend to be miserable and mostly complain about things.
