Barack must be embarrassed to have that middle name since he, himself, doesn't use it. But then if he choses to stop using it for fear of losing in the elections, does that mean he does not believe Americans are educated enough to not associate him with terrorist and dictators? Does that mean he does not trust in our judgment? After all, its just a middle name.

I agree about McCain. Why apologize for the mention of his middle name? Since when have middle names become an insult? My older child has a middle name. Then again My sister and my brother have 1 as well and they never use it, though they never said they were embarrassed by it, they just felt it was easier to go without it. I wish I had a middle name.

BTW, did I even mention that my dad wanted to call me Muhhamed? He was a big fan of Muhhamed Ali at the time but my momma put a stop to that. Boy am I glad. I couldn't deal with being stopped at airports and probed simply because of my name, being a Hispanic born in the US and all.

McCain has always been part of the "get along gang" in the Senate. I think he left his backbone in the Hanoi Hilton.

I wonder if McCain has ever considered his name an insult... I mean, don't we sit on and flush a John? ;~D

 

I do have to admit though, when I use Abama's middle name, I am meaning it to be derrogatory.

To be fair, context does matter. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. Inflection, tone of voice, even your body language (if it's a face to face convo) I didn't hear the introduction to the rally, so to be honest I really have no clue as to whether or not it was derogatory, however... good on Mccain for apologizing, I think it will help him far more than hurt him. This sends the message that he believes in basic decency and doesn't want to get into personal mud-slinging attacks (although saddly that's where just about everything ends up these days in politics)

If you conduct yourself with professionalism and civility, other people attempting to "walk all over you" will be exposed for the adolescents they really are. It's once you take the bait and start fighting back on a lower level that you drag yourself down.

Where was Barack Hussein Obama trashed?  Charles made a good point, that Barack Hussein Obama must be ashamed of his name if people have to apologize for using it.

"All is going to be right with the world when the great prophet from Chicago takes the stand, and the world leaders who want to kill us will simply be singing 'Kumbaya' around the table of Barack Obama," the commentator told the crowd.

I don't think that was a compliment.  It was more than his name.  

You have to admit that people use his middle name to be ugly and divisive not because it's just his middle name.  What is John McCain's middle name or Hillary's?  I don't know because it isn't used as an insult like it is used against Obama. 

It's interesting that he now wants to "take the high road" when it comes to trashing his Democrat opponents, but he had no problem trashing his fellow Republican opponents in the primaries.

The spineless RINO expresses respect for scum like Hillary, but has no problem trashing Republicans every chance he gets.

There are three choices for President... all three of them Democrat.

From day 1 I have blamed the American people for the problems this nation faces because they chose to sit there and act as if they are powerless to stop the Gov't from acting. Today I blame Obama for this ridiculous game of punishing people for using his middle name. Our current President goes by many names, a couple of them are George W. Bush, W, Dubaya (or however they spell it) yet not once has he ever complained about the use even when it was written in an insulting manner such as Dubaya.

Barack should have come out from the beginning and made it known that he is not ashamed of his name, that he didn't care if people used his middle name, that he was a better man and was not afraid of using his middle name in his campaign, instead he chose to hide it after using it at first and has never argued about since.

Congratulate McCain all you want, he was never specific as to what exactly he was apologizing for yet the Media when all out with the radio guy using Obama's middle name. I never knew someones middle name (even if it was Satan, Stalin or even Walker) was insulting. If this is what this nation has come to, I don't want Obama as my President. If he is not man enough to deal with a simple name which his mom and dad were proud to bestow on him, then he does not have what it takes to be President.

I think it's great that McCain stood up and apologise.  What the guy did and how he said it was ain insult.  He was doing it to get the fear mongering on....everyone who heard his speech knew it and he wouldn't have done it if he didn't mean that to happen, and has he himself has said, yes he did!  There's no hiding behind that! 

And Loca, good on you for standing up and pointing that out too!

When did Obama punish someone for using his middle name?    John McCain denounced those remarks of his own accord.
