The McCain Position on staying in Iraq is WRONG. The ONLY reason to keep a small contingent of ground military is to deal with al-Qaeda cells. It is time for the 500,000 Iraqi Military and police we trained to secure the country and keep the three main factions from killing each other.
McCain’s claim that so long as we do not see American causalities it is OK to keep our troops in Iraq fails to understand the issues. Below are the following four reasons WHY his position is dead WRONG:
The Cost
The strain on the U.S. Army
We need more ground troops in Afghanistan to end that war.
Our continued occupations helps recruit more terrorists.
McCain is out of agreement with the vast majority of Americans who want us out of Iraq and his policy will not allow the reduction of tour length and frequency of the Army tours nor provide the added force levels in Afghanistan.
McCain like Bush ignore the cost of continuing to have our troops in Iraq. Our job in Iraq is OVER except to deal with any al-Qaeda cells that develop in Iraq! That does not require anything close to 140,000 troops!
McCain will follow the failed Bush policy and continue to spend billions of dollars we do not have. The needs in the U.S. must to be addressed. We can not continue to spend $12 Billion dollars per month in Iraq!
