Yet again we have an Academy Awards show where the award winners are rushed off the stage while there are oodles of needless fluff and pomp that would be better left out of the show.
When will the clowns that put on the show learn that the people that are getting the awards are the show? When will they learn not to start playing the music to rush off winners who just happen to be trying to say thanks to all of the people that they feel they owe a debt of gratitude to?
As I type this host John Stewart is blathering mind-numbing crap to introduce the fact that we're going to be entertained by all of the academy award nominated songs, which will be performed in their entireity. I'm sure that I've said this before, but gee, it's not like they couldn't use these performances to play us in, or out, of the awards so that we don't have to waste enough time to give the award winners a fair chance to actually make their entire speech?
I'm no fan of long speeches, and I think most of the 'big awards' are made to people that need not say much more than 'Thank you one and all', but I still can't stand that we see crap like Cathering Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas talking about their own winning experience longer than the time alloted for someone that actually won this year. Come on producers/directors/writers for this crap. Be fair to the people that are winning now, and cut the needless performance numbers back to montages so that we don't need 8 hours to watch the entire freaking thing.
