'The Witcher Enhanced Edition' Coming in May

CD Projekt RED Updating Their Acclaimed Title for Re-release & Download

CD Projekt RED announces that they will be releasing an “Enhanced Edition” of the critically acclaimed The Witcher coming in May. The new edition will have additional features added, which are outlined via a YouTube video from the company, with the additions focusing on two aspects that the developers thought were lacking.

The company believes that one of the major issues affecting The Witcher is of the technical nature. The team will be removing any technical obstacles that may hinder a solid gameplaying experience including a drastic reduction in loading times, up to 80%, better optimization on various PC configurations, as well as precision in interactivity and combat.

The other area the company sees as a major issue is the English translation of the game. When porting the title to the English language the developers removed much of the dialog causing the title to feel flat when compared with other languages. To rectify this, The Witcher Enhanced Edition will feature a completely recreated English-language version to match the same level of polish and atmosphere that the other languages deliver.

It is refreshing to see a company going to these lengths for perfection. Hopefully all these fixes will not affect saved games from the original version, although it is likely that they will.
