Pledges branded with hot coat hangers while George W. Bush was fraternity President

It keeps getting better and better. It turns out that Delta Kappa Epsilon applied hot branding irons made out of coat hangers to the backs of pledges when George W. Bush was President of the Fraternity at Yale. The branding was done to 40 pledges and the hazing scandal was reported in the campus newspaper. The story was investigated and the fraternity was fined for the branding by the Yale Interfraternity Council. In a school newspaper interview with George W. Bush explained away the incident, saying "There's no scarring mark physically or mentally." Members of the fraternity that were branded when George W. was President still bear the mark today.

This story was investigated by the STAR newspaper when Bush was governor of Texas and he defended the illegel torture of the young fraternity pledges in the late 60's as a harmless prank. Looks as if George W. would be right at home in the prison system in Iraq!

reply to drmiller.

The pattern is very clear. George W. NEVER admits when he has made a mistake. That is important today. This man is in a dream world - the economy, debt, jobs, Iraq etc.

Now Professor Bradford Lee, of the Navel War College in Newport, RI said, Bush chased him, spanked him and made him bend over a desk with his pants down while Bush branded him like a pig with a triangle-shaped branding iron. Prefessor Lee still has the scars, physical and emotional to this day.

The issue is irrelevant but certain parts does have a bearing. He tried to gloss over a mistake like he tried to gloss over his mistaker on WMD in Iraq. Apparently his character haven't really changed.

Not only did he try to gloss anything over, but no one has a problem with his torture? You don't think that defines his character? I mean, military service is one thing, many of us would want out of that, but toturing? Not me.

Did he *personally do it? Can you prove that *he* did it? All I"ve heard so far is that he was *involved* in it. And on top of all that it happened in college can you explain *what* bearing that has to what's going on now
Reply #14 Top
No more bearing than the whole "swiftboat" thing with Kerry.

reply to drmiler Did Bush do this himself? YES. Read my post from Professor Lee. George was not only President of the fraternity but :

"Bush chased Lee, spanked him and made him bend over a desk with his pants down while he branded him" If you do not think that behavior is sick, there is something wrong with you!

It shows that he'll lie about anything and everything. Nothing the man says comes out as truth. Thus his credibility is non-existant.

Torture's bad, but the war crimes Kerry committed in Vietnam are great because he only did them to gooks and gooks aren't human that's why I'm a Democrat. VOTE KERRY!

Well, Rush Limbaugh says that Abu Ghraib was just "frat pranks" so we might be establishing a pattern.

Awesome Tex, you point it out and he reinforces it.

As for the torture bit in college, I am laughing, seriously, somebody wants to hold someone accountable for college pranks done thirty years ago?

Well shit, I better make sure I don't pull any college pranks if I plan to be in the Federal Government thirty years from now, oh wait to late, I am damned and DOOMED. DOOMED DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!

I believe that this story first gained national attention {in 1973?) when Gary Trudeau's (of the unclaimed $10,000.00 reward to anyone who could prove they served with Mr. Bush during the lost year) report of the story was published in the NYT.

Reminds me of the yearbook photo of Bush suckerpunching someone during a rugby game.

Poor guy has the most difficult time finding an honest broker to redeem his reputation, doesn't he?

What this shows is that he has always been a meanspirited individual. Favored childhood pastime -blowing up frogs with firecrackers. It is only relevant because he is still meanspirited andis using his position as most powerful man on the planet to take it out on anyone who is weaker than he is. Which is ironic because is shows just what a weak person he is.
